New Currency Options and Tier Updates

With the changes to my focus, I had to unpublish the Fantasy Explorer tier and come up with a new way to balance the tiers. Let's take a look at that first. 

Tier Updates

These changes will affect all Explorer, Adventurer, and Hero tier patrons. 

I wanted to give up the idea of limiting the number of releases per tier, so all tiers are now getting the same number of map packs per month. There are no separate sci-fi and fantasy explorers anymore they are merged into one Explorer tier now. I'll keep on doing both, but the ratio is determined by the monthly map polls. 

The differences between tiers are now in the number of variants you get in each map pack and other extra content. In general, this seems to be more in line with other cartographers usually offer. 

• Explorers get now the default and day/night version of the maps (gridded and gridless)
• Adventurers get full map packs usually with 5 different versions of the map PLUS any bonus content like adventures, tokens, music tracks, etc. 
• Heroes will now get access to separate WEBP files of the maps AND any extra maps I might publish on top of the regular map packs. Extra maps do not usually come with variants and they might be remakes of old maps, for example. 

Currency Change

Now while I was at it and Patreon offered the chance to change my payout currency to my local currency, I made some updates to the tier prices and changed the default currency to EUR. This means I’m subject to fewer fees when I get paid each month.

You can still pay in your preferred currency and to avoid any additional conversion fees for both of us, I suggest that those of you in the UK or the US check and change to your local or preferred currency, if necessary. 

For those of you who would like to switch your currency you can follow these steps:

1. On Patreon.com, hover over your avatar in the top right of your screen.
2. Click Manage memberships.
3. Find this page, and click Edit.
4. Under Currency, choose your preferred currency.
5. Click Update to save your settings.

For those of you outside of EU, you can also change to pay in your currency of choice (EUR, GBP, USD) which will help you avoid foreign transaction fees.

When doing these changes I was also able to update my tier pricing, so I adjusted the pricing to be more in line with other patreon creators and marketplaces, but these changes do not affect your membership if you have become my patron before October 7th 2020. The new pricing will affect only my new patrons (or switches between tiers, I assume). 

I think I'm done with changes and updates for now and it's time to get back to making maps! :D
