Status Report: Adjusting Focus, Structural Assets and Dungeondraft Integration


Hi everyone,

Thank you for your feedback on my previous post. The poll results, while not scientifically accurate, gave me a good idea of how I should adjust my current focus.

Moar Deckplans!

There seems to be high demand for spaceship deckplans and building plans so I will prioritize these in the future. I have some maps already in the pipeline, but after these are done, I will revise my plans to include more spaceship deckplans.

While at it, I'd like to ask you what kind of deckplans you want to see in the upcoming releases. Please, cast your vote(s) at the bottom of this post. Thank you!

More Foundry Focus

Besides maps, Foundry VTT modules are something that I should focus on more. Now that the new Foundry VTT v10 is out, I will go through my modules and give them an update. 

While at it I've been considering about reorganizing my modules so that there is more than one map per module. This will save me a lot of time, and I think this is also more practical than installing a whole bunch of separate modules. 

Also, I'm updating my workflow completely to streamline the process of creating Foundry VTT scenes and make it easier to keep up with updates. 

Dungeondraft Integration - Phase 2

Lately, I've been working on the next step of Dungeondraft integration and preparing a custom asset pack with various structural assets like wall, floor, and portal textures. After these, I intend to add paths, lights, and some terrain textures. 

These assets will be available as PNG and WEBP files for other VTT platforms and map-making apps as well.

Once these assets are done, Phase 3 will include natural/organic textures and assets and prefabs/modular tiles.

One note is a request for "prop-less" versions of ship maps, so they can be used at multiple scales, and don't end up with problems like the "30ft crew bunk" because more space was needed.

There have been a few very high-quality space ship map makers popping up and while your style is certainly worth paying for, there's a relative shortage of space stations and creatively made outposts. I for one, am a little saturated on ships but actively looking for station deckplans. Downside is that they are often huge and relatively difficult to design. But they don't have to be! Smaller sections could be interesting too, and often with minor changes, can be used as surface base sections just as well.
