Happy New Year 2023! + News & Poll

Hi everyone, and happy new year!

After taking a few days easy, I'm starting to feel better, and it's time to recap the last month and year and go through some short-term plans. There are many interesting things going on, and I'm excited about the new year. 

2022 Summary

Last year I published 34 new map packs with hundreds of variants, 4 sets of Starfinder-compatible tokens, spaceship tokens, vehicle tokens, and 5 new assets packs. Additionally, all old Foundry VTT scenes were updated to include their variants, and Moulinette Cloud was taken into use. Finally, all assets were updated and converted into Dungeondraft custom asset packs and Universal VTTs, and editable dungeondraft map files were introduced as new rewards. 

In practice, 2022 totally changed the way I make maps, and I hope you will see the results of all the invested time in this year's upcoming releases. 

December Recap

In December, the following map packs and other releases were published for all patrons:

Welcome to the Team Pauliina

Pauliina has been helping me with assets and tokens since last spring, and thanks to your support, they are starting now as a part-time artist. I hope this will take some work off my shoulders and help me to focus on creating new assets and some meta-work, like improving the usability of the Map Library and producing better instructions and tutorials for you. 

January Plans

As mentioned above, some of December's planned content was moved to this month. We have more maps and new assets coming. There's also a major update to Dungeondraft asset packs coming.

There are also some collaborations in plans. One with a composer and one with another map creator. More about these later.

Other Projects

As you might already know, I have recently revived or launched some new projects as side-projects or collaborations with other content creators.

After long consideration, I launched Miska's Cyberpunk Maps, focusing on near-future cyberpunk and hard science-fiction maps. These maps are designed for use with games and settings like Cyberpunk RED, Shadowrun, Blade Runner, Eclipse Phase, The Expanse, and 2300 AD. 

So far, the releases have featured mostly urban maps, but I have plans for other environments ranging from spin-gravity space stations to wasteland nomad fortifications. 

As a Starlord tier patron, you will get all Street Samurai tier map packs as bonus maps (published as separate posts for Starlord and higher tier patrons). 

If you play games like Call of Cthulhu, Acthung! Cthulhu, or Vaesen, this is something you might want to have a look at. 

After a hiatus, I decided to revive Miska's Mythos Maps. This side-project focuses on horror and Cthulhu mythos-themed maps in different eras. Some previous releases for classic 1920s scenarios have already been published, and Pauliina is currently working on an asylum map. Later this year, we will also cover modern-era locations and scenarios. 

As a Starlord tier patron, you will get all Investigator tier map packs as bonus maps (published as separate posts for Starlord and higher tier patrons).

In September, we founded a tabletop RPG publishing company, Ironspine Press,  with three of my friends. We launched a Patreon, Ironspine Adventures, focusing on fantasy adventures in space and other less conventional fantasy settings. Our Patreon focuses on fantasy maps and mini-adventures. In November, we made 30 short adventures and encounters as a sort of practice run and showcase of what we do. 

We are also publishing adventures and supplements for D&D through DM's Guild, and we have some of our own IPs in development.

Last but not least, the poll,

With the launch of Miska's Cyberpunk Maps, this Patreon (Miska's Sci-Fi Maps) will focus on space opera and "soft" science-fiction genre aesthetics and conventions. In practice, this means horizontal deckplan layouts (assumed artificial gravity), non-conventional alphabet (e.g., Aurebesh) and markings, force-fields, and other far-future sci-fi tropes.

In general, the assets and maps will be kept somewhat generic, so they will be easy to adapt to most systems. However, some settings and universes have distinct visual styles or design conventions, and I would like to make dedicated assets and maps for certain sci-fi worlds. 

I wanted to set up a poll to understand better what games you are playing or what kind of visuals you would be interested in. 

I added some of the most popular universes and settings as options, but if yours is not on the list, please add it in the comments. Thanks!
