Quick Update and Streaming Platform Poll

Hello crew,

I wanted to drop a quick update and ask for your preferences for TTRPG streams & videos.

Quick Update

August has been a bit of a hassle, as I've had some doctor's appointments—just some long overdue blood work and tweaks on ADHD medication, so, nothing to be worried about :) Also, kids started school after the summer vacation, so there's been more family-related meta-work than expected. Things have settled down again, and routines are back to normal. Well, as normal as they can be in a family of six anyway :D

Streaming / Video Platform Preference

Because of my messy schedule in August, I haven't been able to commit to streaming yet. I've done some practice runs and tried to figure out what works for me while working.

Also, finding a good time for streaming has been a bit of a challenge, as the best time for the audience would be either very early mornings (starting around 5 AM or late evenings (Starting around 5 PM). So, I've been thinking of looking for some alternatives and workarounds.

Recorded streams/ VODs are always an option. And this is where the platform comes into play. I'm kind of undecided between Twitch and Youtube at the moment. I know it's possible to stream to multiple platforms, but I think I need to pick a primary platform anyway.

What platform do you mostly use to watch (or listen to) TTRPG videos? And do you usually engage with live streams by chatting, commenting, or otherwise?

Thanks!

Comments

If it were an educational How To video that was concise and 10 minutes long then I'd watch it. Something short that shows a tip on how to make a map from start to finish, featuring assets from Miska's Maps. Have you ever heard of the American painter, Bob Ross? He would do these 30 minute videos and "just have some fun with it". I'd be down to watch a 10 minute video that takes you through the basics of just plotting a map out, and then each video is just a 10 minute thing to get you familiar with the tool and start arting.

I hate to say it, but as an Australian most streams are the wrong time for me.

I occasionally use YouTube videos to see how something is done, but not for watching game streams or live chats unless it's something that directly involves me.

I definitely prefer YouTube, in fact I have a channel - https://www.youtube.com/@GameMasterLee
