re Dev; totally understand the fears of a long distance situation, regardless of how far that distance may be. that said, this looks to be more so cause for stepping out of your comfort zone and making new relationships. this would be important whether your partner was moving or not. it's not a flaw to be a clingy person, but isolating yourself to a sole relationship isn't healthy no matter if it be a friendship or a romantic one. this is largely because in doing so, your emotional stability heavily relies on that one person. this isn't healthy for you nor is it fair for the other individual. so it's far more positive imo to use this situation as a means to focus intent on building bridges outside of those you already have and have grown dependent on. this is very much a point in your life where things are big and scary and new and nobody with any sense would judge you for being fearful. so take your time with it knowing you're not alone in this experience and that you'll end up a-ok. (also, I lived in NYC in my early 20's. shit is terrifying. but you got this! take yourself out for ice cream, hang out at the park, find a group that does cross-stitch together. you'll find your place and people eventually.)

For Dev and anyone else in a long distance relationship, definitely listen to the advice in this video. I also have some experience to share: I started dating my husband pretty close to that age as well (we were in grade 12), and we had a lot of moments of long distance. His mom liked to move a lot, so after only a year of dating, he moved (and moved two other times before we finally moved in together). I luckily went to college close to where he lived, but didn't live on campus. So with him at work, and me in school, we definitely had a hard time getting together during the week. Our rule was basically to try to get together every weekend. He was also pretty much the only friend I had, and I had trouble making friends. I eventually did, but his company was mainly what I wanted. It was still good to have people to talk to in college though. We have now been together for 10 years, and married with kids. So yeah, if your relationship means a lot to you, you will find ways to see each other. Do whatever feels right to you, and what makes you happy. Ask what your partner wants as well. The main thing that got us through the years of distance was knowing where we were in our relationship and in life. We made sure we were always on the same page and both happy...and once we finally were able to live together, we saw how much it was all worth it. We are both the happiest we have ever been. Of course it may not work this way for everyone, but you will figure things out either way...whether you continue dating or not. Take care! 😊
