Contrary to his looks he's kind of very kinky and sadistic. I feel like I should have lowered the romantic stat because this man has consistently considered sex to be purely for pleasure and enjoyment. He doesn't really enter sexual relationships with the intent of developing a romantic relationship. In fact, the two concepts are very separate to him. It's why hooking up with Lucian while they're traveling together doesn't affect their overall dynamic much. For him it's about letting some steam off and having fun. Lucian makes sure that's what's up going into it and they're fine with it.
Mahari's never actually had a crush or fallen in love before so when he does, it's very jarring to him. He stops any sexual relations when he realizes it because he gets a wave of embarrassment thinking about sex with any kind of romantic undertones. He's just a very inexperienced guy in that regard. Things get figured out over time as he matures.
Similar to the fairy king, being a prince himself, he's expected to eventually have kids and continue the bloodline so he does marry at some point down the line. That being said, he's sexually promiscuous, but considers himself monogamous in a romantic relationship (not that having one is far too different to him) so he actively seeks out a wife that's okay with it and very much brings Lucian into that process. He'd learn to consider that from being a part of the process itself.
