I did originally consider having them have some sort of romantic relationship, but never did go through with it. I figured there were enough guys as is and having another one would just be excessive. Even if a lot of the guys aren't primary partners (could you imagine LOL), it's still a lot of dudes in the polycule. Or maybe I can just make it bigger, like the Greater Seattle Polycule, except men instead of lesbians, so like a marked downgrade, but it was never going to reach the hundreds anyways.
But in all seriousness, I do have a soft spot for the idea of the two of them. Regardless of the dynamic of the relationship, they mean a lot to each other and Gil and Jesse will always be who Lucian thinks of first when it comes to talks about family, at least in this world. I wish I showed it more, and maybe in the future I will, but the kindness, generosity, and patience given to Lucian was really integral to him succeeding in this world. He would be a very, very different person without them.
Though going back on the topic of them dating, I'd say while Gil's good for Lucian, I don't know how good Lucian is for Gil('s stress levels). To be fair, he's already doing a number on Gil's mental well-being so at least if they were intimate, he gets a bit more out of it.
