Graphics: British, Swedish & Belgian Armored Infantry Platoons
Added 2023-03-14 02:41:25 +0000 UTCDid a Belgian graphic as research for an upcoming video, and decided to do British and Swedish ones with info I already had on hand. These are:
- British Army Armoured Infantry Platoon, FV510 Warrior, 1990s
- Belgian Motorized Rifle Platoon, Piranha IIIC, Today
- Swedish Armored Infantry Platoon, Strf 9040C / CV90, ~2020

In most armies the number of subunits per unit has to do with the funtions of warfighting: Find Fix Strike Exploit. In most western doctrines, there is a subunit for each of the tasks. Sometimes only the first three of the functions are recognised, to that could be the case for the Swedes.

2023-03-20 07:47:57 +0000 UTCIt's what they've always done. As a generalization, 3 vehicles are easier to control and quicker to maneuver. The US was actually looking into 3-tank platoons for some time as a replacement for its 5-tank platoons, but compromised on 4 when Abrams was introduced
