I had three of these things: Football, Baseball, and one about submarine combat. Now, I couldn't have given a crap about anything sports-related in real life (even less so now), but the first two were acceptable to single-digit me by virtue of being a *kind* of video game. I also had an Altered Beast game watch -- and naturally the little guy had the same disconnected Rayman-like limbs you discuss in the episode, which makes me think about (at least conceptual) media cross-seeding. How many people besides me have nostalgia for these things? The Hasbro Sonic 3 game has almost 2,000 reviews on Amazon (but perhaps that doesn't count since Sonic has an outright CULT anyway). Board games are super-popular with hipsters now, right? What if somebody made a game that takes place on a huge mat . . . and players control characters made of limb/trunk/accoutrement tiles in celled trays? If something happens to character's limbs or possessions in the course of the adventure, you swap them out or just remove them. This presupposes, naturally, some kind of perilous sword & sandal quest or a science fiction setting with bionic grafts -- likely more fun to think about than play.

Just going from memory because this was my favorite LCD game before I scraped together the pennies to get a Gameboy You can select to play as Valkyrie, with better armor, I’m not sure if that means you start with more life or some enemies needed to be hit twice? The instruction book mentioned five worlds, first two were regular, third featured moving walls, and the fourth had invisible walls. Never made it past the fourth world, because it never occurred to me that the maze was hardcoded instead of random and I needed to bust out the graph paper and track if the character’s legs moved if I pushed the D-pad.
