Jewish guy here and I got to agree with what Audie said. I do have to say Xerses read is fascinating and I never considered that it could be read that way. I personally was too excited to see a badass Jewish hero kicking ass and felt it was wish fulfillment and a power fantasy. Definitely gives me a lot to think about and I appreciate that

2022-05-07 13:57:13 +0000 UTCDon't take this as me saying "nobody can dislike what this game does regarding Jewish super science", because I'm not trying to speak for everyone, but personally as a Jew, I like what Wolf 2014 is doing because it fights against the antisemitic trope that the Jews are pathetic subhumans who have no culture and can invent nothing on their own. It also doesn't fall into the problem that so much WWII media has, where, if we're present at all, we exist solely to be victims who have no agency and can't fight back. And for me at least it's kind of a wish fulfillment revenge fantasy - I wish we *did* have some kind of secret Jewish sci fi weapon, if only to defend ourselves from persecution. that's just my perspective, though, and I think Xerxes' read on it is totally understandable!
