Fitzcarraldo is truly a great film: Herzog at his most optimistic and Kinski at his most mild (except when he "casually" throws the cat and also when he screams, "I want my opera house!"). It's as if, by suppressing their most celebrated qualities, they somehow reached another place entirely. Cobra Verde and Nosferatu (love the dance and the ending) are pretty darned good too.
