"Oh boy! I want a free pair of roller skates!"
Jerrod always wanted to go to the skate park like the cool kids, well now he was old enough to buy his own gear and since his parents never let him near such a place when he was growing up, he was very excited to go check out what it was all about.
Of course he had never used roller skates before, but he wasn't too worried. How hard could it be?
An hour later he was rolling awkwardly around the skate park feeling like a dork. He was constantly falling over and bumping into people. And there was no way he could get into any of the bowls or inclines without hurting himself. It was a good thing he was padded head to toe with protective equipment.
Unfortunately, he wasn't wearing all the protection he needed, because after about 30 minutes of very awkward scrambling, it was about time for him to stop off at the little boy's room. Unfortunately, it didn't look like the skate park had one in sight.
"Are you kidding me?!" he said to himself, bringing his legs together and wondering how he was going to make it to a restroom in time. He decided it would be best just to go now. If he was fast enough, maybe he could make it to the next bus home.
He did his best to make a hasty retreat, but his skates kept slipping him up. Finally, he managed to get a little momentum going, but he quickly found he couldn't stop. He started going faster and faster until he was completely out of control, at the mercy of wherever the skates would take him.
Unfortunately, they took him right out of the skate park and down the street, until he ran smack dab into a grocery store parking lot, where he tumbled head over heels into some poor lady's cart. Lucky for her, she'd just finished putting her groceries away.
"Oh heavens! Sweetie, are you okay?"
"Y-yeah. I'm F-f-fine. A little rattled that's all. Thank-"
Whether it was the distraction or the impact, it was at this time that his bladder decided enough was enough, and poor Jerrod flooded his pants. He began to cry. He didn't know what else to do.
"Oh, sweetie!" she said, mistaking his tears for fear from the scary tumble he'd taken, but when she reached out to comfort him, she heard a pitter patter of water on asphalt. "That's strange... it's not raining... oh. Ohhhh... uh oh," she said, realizing just what had happened.
She took a second look at the boy maybe he wasn't as old as she first surmised.
"Sweetie, where is your mommy?"
"I-I-I don't have a mommy! I came to the skate park by myself..." he said, truthfully.
"Oh dear," she said, "No mommy? Well, sweetie, who's looking after you?"
"No one. I'm a grown up. I look after myself." he said, between sobs.
She shook her head. What a sad story. He obviously wasn't a grown-up. She could only imagine that he was an orphan who had to learn to fend for himself and 'grow up' too soon. This would never do.
"It's okay, honey. Don't cry. Would you like me to take care of you?"
He just nodded, grateful for any help he could get.
"Okay, honey. Let's get you out of those icky clothes and get those roller skates off your feeties. I don't know what they were thinking letting a little boy like you into that skate park. These are clearly a hazard!"
She helped him out of his skates and protective gear before helping him out of the cart. No point in helping him out if he was just going to slip-slide around and have another mishap.
"No more roller skates for you mister."
He just sniffed and nodded, thinking that was a good idea. This lady was very kind to offer her assistance. Maybe she would give him a ride home.
"I-I-I'm sorry to ask you this," he said blushing, "it's just that. Well, you've been so helpful. I was wondering if you could take me home?"
She looked at him and put her hand over her heart.
"Of course sweetie! I said I would take care of you. Don't worry about a thing. Now, let's get you out of those wet clothes, huh?"
She reached for his pants and pulled them down, expecting him to step out of them. Instead he gasped and covered up his crotch.
"Oh my gosh!" she exclaimed. "No wonder you made such a mess. Why aren't you in diapers? Hold on, I've got just the thing. She began to dig through the various bags and boxes that were loaded in the back of her minivan.
"Diapers?"
What was she talking about? He looked over and realized that she had just been packing her van full of adult-sized diapers and related accoutrements.
"Here we are!" she said, coming out with a thick diaper and a changing pad.
"We'll get you properly cleaned up at the daycare, but this will do for now!"
"Daycare? What daycare?"
"I run a special daycare called 'sunny smiles' where we take care of bigger babies like you!"
"I...think there's been a misunderstanding. I'm not a baby! Hey!"
But she wasn't listening. Even as she spoke, she was laying out the changing pad, unfolding the diaper, and picking him up to plop him onto it. She quickly pushed him onto his back and his legs came up, which gaver her the perfect opportunity to whip off his soggy underwear and tape the diaper on him.
"N-no, hey, what are you doing?"
"I'm taking care of you, sweetheart. Now calm down and let mommy check your leg guards to make sure you won't leak on the way to your new home."
"But I don't need a new home! I have one already!"
"Honey, there's a difference between a shelter and a home. Now let's put you in your carseat. There we go. And we're on our way!"
She put on a sing along playlist and started up the van, taking them speedily along toward their next destination.
He sat there stunned, unable to get out of his restraints. What was he going to do now?
Whether lucky or unlucky, he would find that dressed as he was, no one would believe he was an independent adult. And since all his identification had been left behind with his pants, his new 'mommy' had little trouble adopting him. But one thing is for sure. He'd never hurt himself trying to be like the 'cool kids' again!
