Daily Free-Write September 21, 2020

This one kind of went off the rails, but I like the ideas that came out. I really tried to just write without thinking or deleting today and I did a pretty good job. There's a couple ideas that I just might use in the future!

Don't let the monster get you, don't let it get you!

I was running and running, but the sog monster was close behind. It was chasing me, and all my family was getting further and further as I fell behind, stuck on the post, and then the sog monster came.

Oh my gosh! I said, filling my diaper swell up larger and larger. This is a nightmare!

I sat up. It was a nightmare! Just a nightmare! But what I saw was something very real. I was in a very wet diaper.

The lights came on. It was time to get up. And I was checked by one of the caretakers.

"Looks like somebody needs a change!"

How long had I been in this place?

Rows upon rows of beds, full of cubs up to people my age. I was one of the only 'adult cubs' around, and most of the others didn't make much for conversation, with their baby brains and all.

I was carried to the table and my thick diaper was changed out for a thinner day time diaper. Before I was released, I was put into a locking romper, and cute little booties and then set on the floor and told to go play. Breakfast would be in 30 minutes.

Day in and day out I had been stuck in this stupid facility. For what purpose? I knew I had been sent here for some purpose, maybe to shut me up, or because I had done something somebody didn't like. I had long since stopped trying to fight it.

Breakfast time! came the voice over the intercom, as I sat there playing with my blocks. A caretaker picked me up and I expected to be taken to my highchair like normal, but today was different. They veered away from the rest of the group and took me towards the nursery doors. I had seen many go through those doors and never come back. What would be on the other side?

The other side was not much to look at. Just a white hallway. Seemingly endless in either direction. But the caretaker seemed to know where they were going. We turned, went through a door, another turn and a door, and into a room with a chair, a table, a mirror. An interview room?

"Wait here." they said, setting me in the chair. They trusted at this point that I wouldn't need to be restrained to every piece of furniture I sat in and they were right. I just waited. At length, someone came in. A man in a suit.

"Hello, James Farthing. It's been six months since you've entered the program. I'm pleased to announce you have completed your training."

"I have? What training?"

"Why, your spy training of course. We want you to infiltrate the baby dimension."

"Well, if I'm a spy, I'm not a very good one. I was stuck as a baby that whole time. And I don't even remember what being a spy was - I don't have much memory of my former life at all!"

"That's fine, James, just fine. Because you have the memories safely secured in your mind. Here you are, read this paper."

"Leavenworth Tango Mastodon" I said. "Hmm...that's- OH!" I was hit by a sudden burst of recollection. "Oh oh!!"

And all my training came back to me.

"You analyzed their defenses, James. Learned all there is to learn about the system. And then, you gained their trust. So, what winning strategy did you come up with?"

"None," I said, grimly. "You must close the portal. Close it now."

"And what of the Director?"

"He's lost. Give him up."

"You know we can't do that, James. We have to try to get in there to save him - or kill him."

"Very well," said James. "There's just one thing to do. Get the costume department. I'm going in. As a caretaker."

"James, you're mad! It'll never work!"

"Maybe it won't. But I don't need it to work for long. Just long enough... to release the poison gas!"

"It's a suicide mission, James."

"I know that!" I spat. "That's what I signed up for. Now let's go!"

In 24 hours, I was going to go to that dimension. A dimension much like the place I had just left. I could only hope I could carry out my mission successfully - otherwise... I might just end up a baby forever!
