I'll Be Wearing Green - Part 1 [NSFW]

NB: This part is not NSFW but future parts will be, so I've labelled it as such

Happy Belated Birthday to my wife Dex! Check out her art!

Izuku wasn’t exactly sure why he’d agreed to download the app, it honestly seemed like a terrible idea. It was completely anonymous, which was supposed to help him avoid weird encounters with hero fanboys, but it also left him completely in the dark about who he was talking to – forget fanboys, they could be villains. How was he supposed to know they weren’t going to set up a date then kidnap him, or something?

Ochako had brushed off his concerns with “Deku, you’re a hero, you can handle yourself” and “just text me regularly so I know you’re still safe” but it just didn’t seem like enough.

Regardless, he’d still ended up with the little icon on his home screen, a dozen messages waiting for him with people he already knew weren’t worth his time. Half of them had opened with weird pick up lines, the other half had gone straight for “how big is your dick?”, “top or bottom?”, or “you wanna fuck?” without even so much as a hello.

All Izuku wanted was a nice person to talk to, to get to know, before he dropped his pants and said “come at me.”

He’d pretty much given up on the thing, and it had only been a couple of weeks. He’d just have to go back to meeting people the old-fashioned way. By... Not.

He really hadn’t had any luck in the dating department. All his friends assured him that he was cute, and funny, and sweet, but those things were just never enough for the people he tried to date. They always wanted more, usually more time. It wasn’t Izuku’s fault there were always villains around! He had to prioritise saving lives over a few dates!

Okay, so maybe he was a workaholic. His friends had told him that, too. But all he needed was to find another workaholic, right? Someone who understood! Someone who would smile and tell him “go!” when a fight broke out instead of narrowing their eyes and asking “seriously?” as he pulled off his button-upshirt to reveal his hero costume underneath.

A hero had to be prepared, okay?

There was a little red number on the corner of the app icon, letting him know how many people had said hello – he always hoped he’d be able to have a good conversation with one of those numbers when he got lonely, since the app was meant to match them on mutual interests and the like, but so far they’d just been a bunch of horny bastards. He’d listed his gender, his height, and set his job to “athlete” since he couldn’t come up with anything more appropriate, and apparently those three things were enough to make him a hot commodity – tall and athletic? Yes please. He knew they’d be disappointed if they actually saw him, so plain and covered in ugly scars, but he hoped maybe if he found someone who actually liked him they might be able to look past it.

He opened it with a sigh, deleting a bunch of dick pics and scrolling through some truly awful pick up lines, and just as he was about to give up again for the night, he froze. His thumb hovered over the message that had caught his attention, the short preview just showing him a single word: “Hey”.

Finally taking the plunge, he tapped it to open, waiting for the inevitable gross solicitation that would follow the innocuous “Hey”, but...

That was it. Just “Hey”.

He wasn’t sure what to think of that, honestly. Maybe he was waiting for Izuku to reply, before he sent a picture or a dumb opener. Maybe he had done it by accident, intending to send it to someone else. He really had zero information.

He clicked on the guy’s username to open up his profile, wondering what he might find to send him running, but it was... Bare. Almost as bare as Izuku’s.

Was the guy a villain??

No, that was probably too obvious. Although his job was listed as “demolitions” which seemed... Suspicious also. It was probably innocuous one of those guys who takes down old buildings to make room for new ones, it was far too on-the-nose to be a villain.

Right?

With his hand trembling slightly, he went back to the conversation, tapping out his own, equally short, response.

“Hi!”

He kind of expected that to be it. The guy had messaged the wrong person or something and would just ignore him, or would be annoyed by the lack of a dick pic – maybe that was what “Hey” waas supposed to mean? Was that how guys solicited pictures on this app?

His phone buzzed.

“How was your day?”

Izuku blinked at the message for a minute, stunned even by the fact that there was a reply, let alone one so... Boring? No, that sounded mean. Innocent? Yeah, that was better.

“My day was good! I just got home, how about you?”

“I had the day off. First time in a while. Got bored.”

“I get that! It can be hard to figure out what to do with yourself, other than sleep!”

“Yeah. The sleep is good, hard to not ruin my sleep schedule for the next day though.”

“Sleep schedule? I’ve never had one of those. Just perpetually exhausted.”

“Workaholic, huh?”

Izuku hesitated at that. It had been such a deal breaker in the past, but the guy should know what he was getting into, right? If there was any chance of them becoming friends, or more, he should know.

Another buzz.

“Me too.”

“Yeah!” Izuku replied quickly, beaming at his little screen. “I love my job! It’s time-consuming though. Most people don’t get it, I’ve had a few break-ups come out of being too busy with work.”

“Been there. Priorities though, right? Some chick got mad at me for calling off a date the day before. I asked to reschedule but she thought I should have said no to work for her. Needy bitch.”

Izuku couldn’t help but laugh, despite the language. Normally hearing someone call a girl a bitch would have been a red flag in his mind, but somehow with this guy it felt... Almost playful.

Besides, she did kind of sound like a bitch.

“So you’re bi, then?” Izuku asked, gnawing on his lower lip. “I hope that’s not too forward of me.”

“I am. Is that an issue?”

“No! Not at all! I am too!”

“Oh. Cool. Just uh... You know, biphobes.”

“I get it! Sorry to worry you!”

“Nah, it’s cool.”

Before Izuku knew it, an hour had passed, and his new friend was excusing himself to sleep. He wore a smile on his face the whole time, even as they promised to talk again and he bid the guy sweet dreams, and when he closed the app he sat back with a little sigh.

Maybe there was hope for him after all.
