Be a good boy - Chapter 5 [NSFW] - FINAL

The entire class cheered when the bell rang for school to finish, and for a moment Aizawa was baffled, until he saw everyone grinning over at Katsuki. He turned his head a little to see the board, cracking a smile of his own when he saw the empty box, and shot Katsuki a quick look of approval.

He’d known from the start that Katsuki would never back down from a challenge. The staff members, Principal included, who insisted on waiting so long to warn him had made a grave mistake, and he knew it. If they’d given him the same warning in his first year, Katsuki would have been a model student for his entire high school career.

But no, they had to wait until they were verging on breaking, and even then it had taken a lot of effort for him to push the idea through.

Tell him. He’s an adult now. He deserves to know, not be kicked out without warning. The family can’t argue with us about it if he’s been warned. After everything he’s been through, we at least owe him a conversation.

What he knew that the others didn’t, was that no matter what it took, Katsuki was going to be a hero. He would do whatever that took, even if it clashed with his own morals. There were other students in the class that would turn vigilante at the drop of the hat, if that was what they felt was right – who had attempted to turn vigilante, in fact, though their classmates had thankfully brought them back to the light. If the Hero Commission made more dumb moves like they had in the past, he knew his students would be the first to call them out on it.

But either way, Katsuki would still be a hero. He would worm his way in and change things on the inside, not shun the path completely. He had a promise to keep, after all.

I pledge that I’ll be number one.

Quickly Aizawa grabbed his things and abandoned the class, to let them do their own thing and celebrate together. Katsuki's face burned bright red when Iida proudly drew the big zero on the back of his hand, holding it up as everyone cheered again, and Katsuki looked away stubbornly in a futile attempt to hide his flushed cheeks. As soon as Iida released his grip Katsuki escaped, not ready to deal with all the people, but Kirishima was after him immediately.

“Hey!” he grinned, throwing an arm across his shoulders. “You did good, dude! Setting a goal, working at it, sticking to it – super manly, it's awesome. You proud?”

“Whatever.”

“You're so proud,” Kirishima grinned. “I knew it.”

“Shut up.”

Izuku quickly joined him on the other side, planting a kiss on his cheek amidst stupid wolf whistles, and Denki dove at him from behind, riding him piggyback despite his protests. Even with everything conspiring against him, he managed to bite his tongue – he’d gotten better at it over the weeks, he had to admit. Life might have been easier if he’d just learned it earlier in his school years, but he supposed having the proper motivation had helped.

And maybe the support, too.

Nah.

He managed to throw the group off when they got back to the dorms, declaring his need for a shower, and with one last little kiss and another chorus of congratulations, he finally escaped.

He turned the water up until it was practically scalding, letting it pour down over his and soothe his aching muscles, and as he stood under the stream he couldn’t help but let his eyes wander to the dark marker on his hand.

It wouldn’t last. He was bound to have ones and twos in the next few days, and there would be a day in the future where he snapped and hit double digits, but it was still kind of nice to know he was capable of a good day. He’d just have to keep breaking his streak, seeing how many zeroes he could get in a row, and maybe by the time he graduated he’d have more zeroes than not. It would probably make the rankings a little easier if he didn’t curse at the public, after all.

When Katsuki emerged, clean and warm, he was stunned to find the whole class waiting for him, grinning around their dining room tables, all pushed together into a heap, each of them eyeing him eagerly. He finished drying his hair and threw the towel aside, too surprised to even glare at one of them, just looking around the room with a soft confusion in his expression.

“Well done, Bakugou!” they chorused, stepping aside to show him a cake decorated with bright orange icing. “We're so proud of you!”

He cursed himself for wearing a sleeveless shirt when he felt himself blush, the colour spreading all the way down to his chest, and he caught a glimpse of Izuku giggling at him from the back of the group as he pouted stubbornly.

“Um.. Th-Thank you,” he struggled out, when he realised he still hadn't said a word. “Um, let's all eat some cake, then?”

Someone handed him a knife and he carefully divided the cake into segments for everyone, cracking a smile when he saw everyone laughing and smiling together.

Maybe their support wasn't so bad after all.

─────

“Bakugou Katsuki.”

He couldn’t resist a laugh when he heard the cheers start, sneaking a glance at his parents in the audience and shaking his head fondly. He accepted the diploma with a little bow, blushing faintly when he saw Aizawa smiling down at him surprisingly brightly.

“Congratulations, Bakugou,” he said quietly. “I knew you had it in you.”

“Thank you.”

He joined the group of his classmates waiting on the other side of the stage, rolling his eyes when Izuku shot him a grin from where he still waited in line, and as they called the next name he did his best to stand still and quiet, to not glare at anyone, to not ruin it at the last possible moment. His parents were snapping photos, so he raised his diploma a little, waving it at them subtly as they took another, and he couldn’t help but smile when he looked down at it himself.

There were so many moments when he’d thought he might not graduate. The kidnapping, the fights he wasn’t sure he’d come back from, the stupid situations his classmates had gotten into that he’d had to go drag them back from – his damn boyfriend especially – and finally his threats of expulsion less than a year ago. But somehow, against all odds, he was standing on that stage, holding his official diploma, knowing he’d finished with the highest grades of their entire graduating year – because damn right he had.

When Izuku joined the group, he immediately reached for the scarred hand, squeezing it lightly and hoping it might serve to convey all the things he needed to say. Thank you for being there, for helping me be here, so pushing me to new heights, and most importantly of all, fucking finally.

He wouldn’t mind taking the punishment for that one, it was worth it.

Izuku squeezed him back, shooting him that gorgeous smile that made the sun look like a desk lamp, and Katsuki knew he’d understood – because he, too, understood.

We made it, Kacchan.

They were finally going to be pro heroes, to fight for the number one position, to make everyone forget the name All Might and only remember Deku and Dynamite.

He supposed he’d better keep being good.
