Starting on Patreon

So! I haven't had much time to plan this transition, but with the Tapastic Support program ending I've had to make the switch. Welcome to the new Patreon for The GaMERCaT!

I've been considering Patreon for a long time now, but I haven't really had time to plan out any exciting rewards. I obviously can't just bring the current Tapastic rewards over, as this is a different support model, but I'm thinking I will be putting those leftover items in the shop exclusively for patrons to buy. Not sure yet.

I also don't have a ton of extra time for more content at the moment, but my ideas for things to add in the near future are:

Reward ideas:

Milestone ideas:

Please let me know if any of these sound good to you guys! I am also open to ideas on other things I could do, so please feel free to make suggestions.

I look forward to settling in here on Patreon!

One milestone could be game reviews from gamercat himself. Wouldn't be too hard to animate in your art style Samantha

Thanks for your feedback! I'm afraid Tapastic's milestone reward system wasn't working out very well anyway. Many people only pledged a limited amount for the specific reward(s) they wanted and then stopped, which isn't much different than selling merchandise in the shop, but I was also losing a lot of time because I had to set up a separate fulfillment and management system for it. Plus with all the split shipments the shipping costs ended up being more than anticipated. I'm trying to establish continuous support that won't take time away from the comic itself, so Patreon might work out better after all. I'll figure it out eventually and hopefully make it just as fun :)

I'm more then happy to switch to Patreon. But my main concern is the loss of what made the Tapastic support program so good. People with little money could eventually get awesome rewards (even if it potentially took a year or more to reach them) -- although a potential issue could've been when a glut of people giving $1 all hit the $100 reward at once. I'm still a little irked at Tapastic for closing their support with such little warning... esp. for people like you who were getting quite a bit of support - and probably counting/depending on it. I know Patreon isn't really setup to work with the 'milestones' concept; and none of us want your support programs to take up so much time that it distracts you from making comics - that would defeat the entire purpose! Regardless, I worry that something like a postcard of the month club (or anything higher tier) could discourage people from supporting at all if it cost too much..... but maybe there could be a cheaper option where we only get a postcard every now and then i.e. the occasional holiday or one per season? IDK, I guess we'll all have to bumble around for a while to get used to how Patreon works and go from there.

Just found your Patreon. I'm glad you made the jump ok. All the ideas you talked about above sound good to me (so long as the post cards don't cost too much to mail).

postcards and game reviews sound awesome! Milestone goals could include stickers or little things like that. So glad you;re on patreon on!
