Chapter 5 plus Exclusive Gold Tier chapter

It’s time for the latest content drop - Chapter 5 for Silver Tier as well as an extra extended chapter for Gold Tier. As before, both chapters are available on their respective discord channels.
I’ve once again proven to myself that I’m terrible at judging chapter length. Everything that happens in chapter 5 was supposed to be in chapter 4 - and to tell the truth, I cut a decent amount out of chapter 5 as well! And this chapter is a lot longer than the last one.
I started writing this story about two weeks ago now. I’ve had it in my head for a while, and while I wrote down the occasional note or outlined a scene I liked … I’d always held off actually writing it. Then I just sat down one day and started it - I launched my Patreon a week later and now, two weeks after starting, here we are.

It’s strange how it all feels. I’ve been writing this story for two weeks and I honestly feel like I’m going too slow. That I’m taking too long in getting to the plot beats I want to hit. It was a niggling irritation at the back of my mind. And then I decided to look at the word count so far.
With chapter 5 going out today, and including the two Gold Tier chapters, I’ve almost hit 40,000 words. In two weeks. Since a 300 page novel is only around 90,000 words this kind of floored me. Perhaps I need to try and be more concise in chapters. Hopefully you all don’t think I’m waffling too much! It sometimes feels that I’m going too slow in getting to plot points that I really want to write. Character interactions that I’ve hinted at but haven’t fully explored yet. Rest assured they are coming! The issue is that every point in my story outline somehow expands and morphs into something a lot longer than I originally intended. I have to remind myself that chapter 5 is only Adam’s second day at Serenity Falls.
There’s so much more to come.
