I'm new to the site too but the only differences I know so far is that SubscribeStar is more open towards adult content, so I can easily post 18+ screenshots and other media in there without worrying about it. But you also can't use paypal over there, compared to Patreon. So what you want to use depends on what you like more I guess. If you are happy with using Patreon then you can just ignore it.
