[Salvos] 733. The Progenitor (Removed for KU)

(Removed for KU)

Comments

So far the closest contact anyone's had with the liquid from it was when Salvos got slightly soaked in it when fighting with the Devil; I can't tell if that had any effect on her future acquisition of Divinity. But there's something with that goblet, because it's mentioned literally every time something happens in the lair.

Danijel Turina

I don't think Sally would try to drink anything. Salvos doesn't like drinking stuff, and so Sally likely wouldn't have any desire to try it, especially since she probably can't because she is made of fire.

"I just imagine Manos and Sicar being trapped in an illusion and Salvos just goes "What are you guys even doing? We have a job to do!" " - yes, this looks very possible. :) And btw this is why you don't go into a battle alone, because someone always has a Skill that can trip you up, and if you don't have friends who will back you up, you're done. As for connecting the situations, I keep remembering Xidra's words, that Edithe will be the most important one of them, and I guess she had some kind of a premonition. That might become interesting at some point. There are multiple very long story arcs there. Also, something clicked when I said, commenting on one of the previous chapters, that there's a possibility that the Nexeus System core saved Via's soul. You see, one of possible renderings of "Salvos" from bad Latin is "the saved one".

Danijel Turina

I just imagine Manos and Sicar being trapped in an illusion and Salvos just goes "What are you guys even doing? We have a job to do!" If you told me to connect Salvos', Sally's and Edithe's situations, I would say Sally using the dreaded goblet in Salvos' occupied lair draws Salvos' attention and re-establishes the connection. [Salvo of Vanity] evolves, Salvos gets Sally's memories and sends advanced clones to Rachel and Edithe. When finding Edithe, she gains the scythe and thereby the power to slay the Matriarch and Reggie, unlocking her next evolution.

Dragonmaster_42

If I'm trying to guess what happens next, I would expect the fight against Chordus to go completely against expectations. For instance, we expect them all to be concentrated on Salvos as the biggest threat, but they wouldn't see it this way. To them, Manos is the greatest threat, and how do you attack him? Probably attack Sicar in order to ground them, then attack them with some kind of an illusion or curse, surround them and have everybody fire everything they have at them, expecting to be able to deal with Salvos easily later; after all, she's only lvl 174. :) So Manos and Sicar might find themselves in a pickle, and Salvos might have to rescue them, kind of opposite to the expectation where they prove themselves to Salvos. In fact, Salvos proves herself to them, so that they learn it's not your common Demon thing where you sacrifice your people for a tactical advantage, the way Regnorex does it. It's more like an adventurer army, where you take care of your people and try to get everyone home safely. Chordus and her team underestimate Salvos and she kills them all, levelling a lot. Manos and Sicar are like "wow, maybe there is a third option". Rachel talks to the Matriarch, about the corruption, the Devil, Princess Salvos and other things that may or may not be important, but the fact is that Sally is holding the Dreaded Goblet in Salvos' Lair, basically stacking together stuff that increases the likelihood of her connection to Salvos asserting itself to the point where Salvos notices, or at least stacking together the stuff that increases the probability of Salvos emerging exactly there, if she decides to go to the Mortal Realm for whichever reason. I don't understand what happens with Edithe and the Archangel, it's still all unclear - sure, she has the scythe, but if the Archangel is alive it's his and she can't just take it. Also, if the Archangel is no condition to fight, for instance needs a month of recovery to rebuild a new body, they can't just go deal with the Centinels, and I wonder how they get to the point where reaching out for Salvos looks like the best plan. Especially since Salvos looks like she might need that scythe within days at best, and hours at worst, if Focalor turns out to be implacable. The connection between Edithe's team and Salvos looks like it needs to happen, but I have no idea how. I don't know when Daniel and the Watcher make an appearance, that's a complete unknown, although it looks like it's going to happen. I don't know where Hartia is mentally, but his hiding under some rock might be poorly timed, because some serious de-collaring might need to happen.

"If she takes a look around, a few levels are nothing!" - well, she did get a lot for the Jofis fight, but she also got next to nothing for the 20-something legion heads before. Let's see what happens next.

Danijel Turina

There is a lot of potential for mayhem right before Salvos' feet! If she takes a look around, a few levels are nothing! Sally, the centinels, the demon army, Edithe, the scythe, wild demons, various sources of corrupted entities, the dreaded goblet, even just sitting down for a sec in her time chamber to play with essence, divinity and corruption to level her general skills, there are a lot of opportunities for growth! I think the only thing that really screams transitional is the apprentice part of her class. Attuning herself to corruption is a cornerstone of what I foresee as her final evolution, so I think she is somewhat close to "completion". In fact, I think she will be able to fully transform her body into corruption without any real downsides as a primordial. And then she blends it with divinity and distills it into something greater.

Dragonmaster_42

About her levels: she got so many stat points from that stackable Title, the levels are no longer critical in that sense; I used to think she lags too much behind someone like Jofis before, but considering how much her Divine Essence changed the playing field, and considering that the new Title is half that, with both she is comfortably stronger than Jofis powered by Demon Mode. Sure, another 20 levels with 5 stat points each, and all GS maxed would help, but at this point I don't feel she's absolutely fucked without it; rather, those things increase her advantage. She got 5 levels from Jofis, but that was one of the hardest and most dangerous fights of her life, some 10% less of a problem than Regnorex, I'd say. Let's say she gets as much or more for killing Regnorex; let's say it's like the battle of Inor, where she got 8 points to her species. Let's also say she evolves at 190. This means she needs to be at least lvl 182-185 for that fight. Now she's 174, so she needs 8-11 levels. She will now face half of the Legions. and around 25 Primevals, and she's doing it hastily, without preparations and planning, Manos whom she doesn't know well, they don't know each other's fighting styles, they can't read each other's situation well, and they don't have an established gameplay. Unless those legion heads surrender, it's going to be a chaotic shitshow, but she might actually need it in order to level enough, because she needs to level in order to evolve. I somehow assume the Focalor fight is going to consist of mental and emotional chess while he's beating her up (hopefully protected by the [Flames] GS, and I'm not sure if she's going to level from that one at all, unless she has to kill him, in which case all bets are off.

Danijel Turina

I'm not sure she needs any more GS before her evolution, but then [Salvo of Vanity] might evolve into something greater, and I have a hunch she will get [Godkiller] at some point, when she needs a superweapon. But at this point, I guess she needs to evolve, both in her primary and secondary species. Also, I'm wondering about her class. Corrupted Apprentice looks very much transitional, but I'm not sure at which point this will evolve into something awesome. Also, everything about her looks transitional, in a sense that it's rapidly evolving into something better, and the process is far from finished. She has several problems there; the first is time, which is running out, and forcing her to do everything in a matter of days rather than years. At this point, this is already taking a toll; she feels stressed out and traumatised. Her second problem is that she will in all likelihood have to fight Regnorex as a Primeval, and kill him to evolve into a Primordial. This means she will have to overcome his multiple advantages, and so far she's been making big steps in the right direction; the class advancement gave her +60 to all stats, the Title gave her +150 to Vitality, and the latest stackable Title gave her +50 to everything. This is a lot, and we don't actually know what that point to [Divine Essence of...] actually did. I doubt it did nothing. Probably less cooldown or longer duration, or the results are visible on the next GS cycle. We also don't know the actual advantages of Regnorex's Primordial evolution, what his stats and levels are, what's his class, does he have 200+ in his class and so on. He's obviously stronger than Jofis, but Salvos is also obviously stronger than Jofis, at least when he's not powered by bullshit GS Swiss army knife. We can guess that his main weapon is Demonic Essence Manifestation, and she has some resistance to that. If she had to fight Regnorex unassisted at this point, I don't think she would win, but if she had Haec empowered by a million Demons to combine skills with, and also Manos and others, I'd worry more about others than her, and I think she would win, and with quite a margin, simply because she's more versatile and smarter. The problem is, Regnorex is not going to fight alone. He will have around 600 Primevals and probably tens if not hundreds of thousands of Archdemons at his side, plus the advantages of terrain because it's his domain. This makes me feel she needs to have more advantages before that fight. That Scythe of the Arcraem would help so much. Also, Focalor might prove to be more important than Regnorex, and he might in fact be the secret to his success. Also, I recently returned to what Belphegor was saying, and he said he's a slave and has no choice but to toil there, and I thought, what if Focalor put a spell on him as well? Why else would Belphegor think he's a slave? If anything, he's Samuel's viceroy. I somehow always hope Focalor can be returned to sanity, but what if that's not the case and he in fact is the main problem? I honestly don't know if she can beat him, because he must be close to Belphegor in power, and Belphegor could probably eat the Great Agarus for lunch.

Danijel Turina

On the other hand, the more Salvos is pushed to her limits, the more she grows. More enemies means more experience! Especially given the nice spread in levels can be a highway to evolution! [Salvo of Vanity] might evolve and open up new options. If she is desperate enough, she might manifest a new (grand) skill! Maybe [Salvo of Vanity] is even the skill to turn grand! Or her essence GS just shows his true lvl2 power! Man, I am so looking forward to the next chapter! And to the next evolution of [Salvo of Vanity], whenever that might happen!

Dragonmaster_42

Well, if [The World Of My Mind] is in the interplanar void, and Sally opens a rift to the said void, their connection might theoretically re-establish. But there are of course plot reasons why that may or may not be a good thing, because Salvos would be tempted to intervene, and timing might be wrong for that. For instance, if she's not able to solve the Matriarch, better to work on levelling first.

Danijel Turina

Hey Melas! Do you already have an idea when the next chapter will drop? I feel like things will really kick off next chapter and I can't wait!!!

Dragonmaster_42

That was a rift to the void, so it has a lot of tactical implications. Aside from the fact that it may or may not be "closer" to Salvos in the Netherworld for the purposes of their connection

Dragonmaster_42

It's just a flower vase where the water gets murky super fast ;) The [Dreaded Goblet] may or may not have helped Salvos gain [Wisdom/Manifestation of the Old Gods] and may or may not have contributed to her draconic class... I wonder if she can still power up through it. Might even be that Sally drinks from it and triggers her reunion with Salvos... Well, it's one of the most enigmatic open plot points, so a lot may come from it! Or not ;)

Dragonmaster_42

She does, but it appears that nobody asked her and she didn't volunteer info either. Rachel probably didn't think Sally could possibly know anything about it, because she doesn't know about the Devil.

Danijel Turina

Shouldn’t the salvos clone have knowledge as to why the sentinels left secely ie the corruption

Travis Brown

"Rachel continued to walk forward as Sally paused, having kicked a metallic object over on the ground. The Salvos clone paused and picked up a goblet-like object as Rahcel followed behind Jerome, before she saw a figure standing in the middle of the cavernous room." - that [Dreaded Goblet] is starting to become a meme. I wonder when someone will decide to actually drink from it or something; also, the Kobold [Cultists] are bound to miss it, and it looks like a super important artefact they might actually go to war to retrieve, and Salvos just left it there along with her alchemy gear and cultist books.

Danijel Turina

"There, she saw the remnants of what had once been Salvos’s Lair, which was not distinctly different" - which was NOW distinctly different?

Danijel Turina

"And now, she it was real." - lapsus. also "Rahcel".

Danijel Turina

It's possible, but at this point Sally and Lair are at the same place, which makes me think - can Sally re-open that rift that Salvos so inexpertly cut there early on?

Danijel Turina

There is another option I just though of: The Archangel might help Edithe return, they pop up in Salvos' lair and Sally gets the scythe, triggering the reconnection with Salvos.

Dragonmaster_42

Finally! A new chapter! And it promises action! Thanks, Melas! Keep up the good work!

Dragonmaster_42

I think no 1 is Sally, 2 the lair and 3 the netherfied fields...

Dragonmaster_42

I think there is a possibility that if Sally dies, her experience and conscious follows the nearly lost connection to Salvos and triggers the grand battle. Matriarch Centinel might also try to use Sally as an interplanar voodoo doll with the same effect. So I'm not that worried about Sally's body being destroyed.

Dragonmaster_42

I wonder if Centina gets her wish at 150.

Danijel Turina

Free me? Save me? Help me?

Danijel Turina

Hmm so the first gained a human form.

IdolTrust

I really hope Sally doesn't die here. Also hopefully we get Matriarch lore, wonder how things will unfold. Very excited!

Azrie

"And Rachel shuddered as the [Identification] results played in her mind." - oh, so her deeply buried common sense is making an appearance. :) And I guess I was right that the Matriarch is there for Salvos. This is going to be interesting, and honestly that's the top probability place in the Mortal Realm for Salvos to re-appear, her first attempt would be to find her lair and teleport there, and the second attempt would be to find the thinnest point in the netherfied lands.

Danijel Turina

"Until she heard a voice whispering to her. “...e...me…”" - Yes! He's hurt, but alive. Needs help. That's potentially awesome because he'll owe them one when they heal him.

Danijel Turina

About that, I don't know what they are eating and drinking there, but it's been days and it would've been a problem if not for some unmentioned bag of storage with food. I would actually expect Edithe to carry one at all times after the Plaguelands. :)

Danijel Turina

meanwhile it’s just centina behind edithe saying she’s hungry
