Announcement #3
Added 2024-11-18 05:05:01 +0000 UTCHello everyone! Thank you all for the immense support over the past few months.
I've recently been testing some things on my own in order to improve the quality of my sets, and fortunately, I’ve managed to discover something I'm quite happy about.
It's a new style similar to X V3 but significantly improved!
From what I’ve tested so far, it allows for way more expressive gestures & facial expressions on characters, the images feel overall better looking, and arguably the most important part for me: it seems to generate what I prompt way more accurately most of the time.
Style X V3 has been my favorite since I discovered it, but it is still lacking in some areas, and I think this version fixes a lot of the problems I have with it (of course it's still not perfect though).
That being said, something I've come to realize, especially as of this past month, is that I no longer enjoy making sets for the old Styles 1-3 anymore (for the most part).
I personally think they no longer hold up in terms of visual appeal; when I'm making the set, I'm just sitting there wishing the requester had picked one of the X styles instead because it'd look way better in my opinion (I still like style 1 a bit though).
Due to this, as well as the fact that this new style allows me to generate images more accurately than all my current styles, making it so that I don't have to spam generations for ages until I finally get what I'm looking for, I've decided that I'm going to stop using Styles 1,2,3 & X V1 (and old X V3 since this one is just a better version).
Initially, when I had thought about making this change, I was going to stop using every single style except the new one, but I still enjoy the look of X V2 a lot, so I'm going to keep using it for the time being, even though I still have quite a few issues with it (mainly how the faces look when it's not close-up).
When it comes to X V1, it's weird because I still like it a lot, but, not only have I barely used it, whenever I do use it, people don't seem to like it that much, so I guess there's no point in keeping it.
As for Style 1, while I still somewhat enjoy how it looks, it's way too different looking from all the other ones, but the main reason for its removal is that I just want to have as few styles as possible now.
Style 2 is always a 50/50 for me; sometimes it looks great, other times it looks garbage, and the absolute worst part is the 2-3 watermarks that generate in 98%+ of images per set, making those sets take an additional 2+ hours to finish than all the other styles. Having to spend all that extra time removing them, on top of the fact that I don’t even like how most of the images look in the first place, is honestly the main reason that drove me to make this big decision. Style 1 also has the watermark problem, but it’s usually only 1 per image for ~75% of the set’s images instead, so while it’s significantly more tolerable, it still sucks that I have to deal with that.
Style 3 is another case of sometimes looking great, other times not so much. Other than that, I just simply think it doesn’t hold up in comparison to the newer styles.
Honestly, one of the biggest issues for me is how bad the faces look when they aren't up close/focused, and I feel like this newest style doesn't have as much of a problem in that regard, which I'm very content with.
Last but not least, I have decided that I am no longer going to be naming the 「Style Name」 in the title of my sets, for a couple reasons:
- I'm technically only keeping one of the old styles (X V2), and I’m likely going to replace it or improve it in the future, and while I’ve been calling this new style an improved X V3, it’s still different, and I probably would’ve named it X V4 had I kept going with this format. Not to mention, I might tweak it slightly between different sets, if it ends up looking better for specific characters.
- It’s a way to get rid of the convoluted naming system. I’ve noticed a lot of requesters in the past and even some in the present being confused with which style is which, this gets rid of that problem.
- I might still feel like making a non-request set with one of the old styles some day in the future, probably an improved version if I manage to make one. (Very unlikely but who knows)
When I started making AI art, I created all those different styles because I wanted to have more variety and be more unique than other AI artists. I also liked all the styles and couldn't pick a favorite, so I kept them all as an option. But now I feel like the old styles are just holding me back from improving and making higher-quality sets... too much variety isn't necessarily a good thing.
I hope not too many of you are upset about this change, especially if you are someone who likes one of the styles that I'm no longer going to be using, but I feel like this is the right step forward.
To my requesters: I've updated the request format page; please check it out and use the new version from here on out: https://www.patreon.com/posts/how-to-request-108333590
That's about all I have to say for now. I hope everyone enjoys my sets moving forward even more than the ones I've made so far.
