To be honest, I can't really imagine myself being in a relationship where we don't talk about life, our ambitions, or grow together. This can go for friendships, family, or any other relationship too.
I really enjoy being in a relationship where we both motivate each other in life, witness each other's progress, and most of all, respect each other for where we're at. There are times our pages don't always align, but I'm honestly thankful to be with someone who's willing to explore the gray areas of life with me. We never point fingers and insult each other harmfully (other than jokes), and always try to see where we're both coming from. I like that we both choose to be curious over being egotistical.
Like friendships, I didn't magically stumble upon this relationship. I had to go through a few "hurdles" before landing on this one, but it took those past experiences for me to realize what I truly want in a partner. Every relationship is different, but at the end of the day the person you're with should respect you no matter what. I like to imagine each other as little hikers wandering around the landscapes of each other's brains and admiring the view.
