I feel like a lot of notorious class doodlers have had their hands slapped at least once in class for being caught doodling, or had that be the "reason" why you failed certain classes. While I've had my fair share of unsupportive teachers, I also wanted to remember the ones who were supportive, and went against the traditional schooling system. I went to very academically driven schools as a kid growing up, and being the "art kid,"made me not fit in all the time. Everyone was already worrying about what college or career they would get into at the ripe age of 12, and all I cared about was being able to complete a decent drawing. However, there were so many times I nearly stopped because my grades plummeted, even when I studied hard. I thought I had to study my whole life away and just give up on drawing to "fit in" and "get somewhere in life." I almost even went to another school for "alternative learning," at one point. But now as an adult looking back, there are so many ways to be successful in life beyond what school taught you. I thank the teachers who secretly rebelled the system and acknowledged that my path in life could be beyond what was on their syllabus.
