Thresholder, Book 1, now available for preorder, and for you

The fully edited first book of Thresholder is available for preorder on Amazon, and will be published on March 25th. It's going to be on Kindle Unlimited, which means getting stubbed on RoyalRoad. The new version of the story has an extra 30K words, roughly six extra chapters, mostly detailing Perry's time in the first two worlds. It's also been rearranged so that the chapters happen more chronologically.

And you can read it right now! It's attached to this post as an epub! This post will remain up after stubbing, so should be available to patrons at any time.

When the book releases on Amazon, I would appreciate some reviews and whatever other form of love you have available (such as telling a friend or mentioning it in whatever discords you frequent), but I'll make another post then.

Maybe some small editing issue at the end of the Pulver chapter? Unless I misread it seems to say the portal did not appear on Pulver’s death, but then he goes through it without remarking on this.

I also see that most of the, um, unconventional punctuation was fixed. Double quotes are now used instead of single quotes (except for nested quotes, where they belong) and ., now appear mostly (but not consistently) inside closing single quotes instead of after them. It wouldn't take long to fix the remaining exceptions.

From comparing the tables of contents and doing some quick skimming, it looks like most of the new content was added at the very beginning of the story to provide more background on Perry.

@alexanderwales , would you mind listing which chapters are new or you'd suggest reading, if the whole of the serial as read on royalroad+patreon is still fresh enough on one's mind as to not warrant a full re-read?

I love Thresholder, but I hate giving money to Bezos and I even more vehemently hate keeping collections of my personal (e) books tied to an ephemeral subscription that makes them all go away when I stop paying for it. Is Kindle Unlimited really that lucrative of a distributor that it's worth accepting their terms that require it to be stubbed on other platforms? Lots of authors I love and respect are on KU, the local print bookstores are closing down and always more expensive than Amazon, and it would probably be easier on my wallet to just subscribe and forget about it... but it seems to be a Faustian bargain.

I like the cover it’s got some good foreshadowing!

I hate to say this but I think the version of power armour with the H on it is better

Will you be releasing a print-on-demand version?
