I have seen the 13 & 14 thing hit here and there but it's definitely not written in stone. I compare the "End" = 13 & 14 connection much like I do the "Thursday" = 35 connection, both created and started by a guy who doesn't even make picks. I call them meme connections. Do they hit, sure, they do, but its not as much as people think or make it out to be.

And two, bank roll management, for example, if you have a 100$ bank roll, you should not be betting any more than 1-5$ on a given day/play. Easier said then done, I know, and I've blown plenty of bank rolls until I learned. But it's vital to stay in the game long term.
