I leaned against the fence, boots scuffed and dusty, my hat tilted just enough to hide my grin. He was still brushing down the horses, pretending not to notice how often he looked over at me.
I licked my lips slow and deliberate, just to tease. I knew he saw.
And I liked the way he paused, fingers curling a little tighter around the brush.
"You're takinβ your sweet time," I called out. My voice came out low, warm like honey left too long in the sun.
He didnβt answer. He just gave me that look β the one that always made my stomach twist and my thighs press a little closer.
I stepped away from the fence and made my way toward the barn, letting my hips sway just a little more than usual. I could hear his footsteps follow. Just a beat behind.
By the time I reached the stall doors, the world had quieted. No more cicadas. No more boots thudding on dry dirt. Just breath. Just heat.
I turned to face him. He was closer than I expected. Close enough to see the flecks of gold in his eyes.
"Thought I might cool off in the hayloft," I said, my fingers tracing the collar of my shirt, slipping one button loose. "Unless youβve got a better idea."
He didnβt speak. Just stepped forward and reached out β not rough, not rushed, just... certain. Like heβd been waiting all damn day to touch me.
And when his fingers brushed my waist, my breath hitched.
I leaned into him β into the smell of sweat and leather and whatever it is about him that always gets under my skin. His hands slid over my back, pulling me close, and I didnβt stop him. I never stopped him.
My shirt slid off first. Then his.
Every inch of skin that met made me ache for more.
When he kissed me, it wasnβt sweet. It was deep. Hungry. The kind of kiss that said we both knew exactly what we wanted β and we werenβt gonna waste another second pretending otherwise.
The loft was quiet except for the sound of hay shifting beneath us, breath catching, clothes rustling. His hands found every part of me like a map he already knew by heart.
And when we moved together β slow, hot, tangled in shadows and straw β I didnβt hold back. I let myself fall. All the way.
Because out here, under the open sky, with him inside me and the scent of summer thick in the air, I didnβt have to pretend to be anything but his.
And I knew, even without words, he felt the same.
