April '24 Update: About Yuri!!! on Ice, Change, and Leveling Up

This isn't like most of the monthly updates, but it's probably one of the most interesting in recent memory. For those of you who may somehow be unaware, my humble beginnings as YuuriVoice spawned from a Yuri on Ice Tumblr blog during the airing of the series and as of last night the follow-up movie 7 years in the making is now officially canceled.
I thought I wouldn't have much to say, or that it wouldn't really matter when the plug was finally pulled. I thought I had made my peace, and that YOI's place in my heart was mostly cemented over and left as just a quaint memory.
I thought wrong.
Join me for nearly 30 minutes of reflection, a retrospect on the impact that the series had both personally and for the community, and what appears to be a fond farewell for now.

One of my best memories around anime, was during the Yuri on Ice airing. I was at a convention with a friend, and we crowded around a small iPhone to watch the new episode. I think it was the Christoph one ๐ but the episode was so fantastic, and then the day after the conventionโฆ.literally every single person was talking about it. Everyone, in a huge convention. It was a moment in time where everyone had the same enjoyment, and the 180 when everyone realized it wasnโt queer baiting? Probably the best realization in anime history. Been here since the beginning, and I hope you know how much we appreciate you ๐

Makes me wonder what could have been. Especially for a lot of other creative projects that never even got the chance.
