The Future of Venus - Desk Thoughts

Hello, friendly readers and smut-looker-atters. This is Umbrelloid, coming at you with another smoking hot game dev update! The longest one so far, in fact.

When I started writing CoV, I didn't expect it to blossom as far outward as it has. A developer's first game is supposed to be small, contained, and manageable - but the more I write, the more I wonder how much I could write, and that's where the issue lies.

Champion of Venus is a game with lots of potential. Too much, in fact, given the sheer breadth of kinks I'd love my characters to explore. As a few reviewers have pointed out, CoV maybe doesn't do justice to its core concept as much as I'd like it to.

The reasons are numerous. For one, every important character requires expensive sprite work, to say nothing of the ero scenes themselves. I know most of my players don't mind text with no art - I should lean into that, moving forward - but I like to include at least one cg for every two black-background scenes.

So, What Happens Next?

We're at an interesting part of the story. Rayne's had her share of adventures, and she's starting to become a competent(ish) champion. Heading straight into the final series of encounters would feel a little rushed...but it would give me a clearer end-point to build towards.

This wouldn't be the ultimate ending - more like Undertale if you beat Asgore and called it a day, or Persona 4 if you never accuse [13-YEAR-OLD SPOILER EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW]. There's more waiting beyond this 'end', but with that in place, I'll be able to go back and flesh out everything before, in the confidence that the game at least has an ending.

Other To-Dos.

- Add a checkbox at the start of the game, allowing you to opt in or out of certain kinks. If you opt out, the scenes in question will be replaced with different ones.

- Dream Scenes! Venus has a special training programme for Rayne, and what better arena than the dreamscape? These would allow for some fun, lewd diversions from the main story.
