Half Life 2 Part 3!

Stress and panic are back on the menu :) I see why we don't go to Ravenholm now

Half Life 2 Part 3!

real af tho

Most people upon playing Ravenholm: *confused screaming* Amber playing Ravenholm: "this is sooo cooool!" ... interspersed with *confused screaming* BTW, you played Ravenholm amazingly for a first time through. There were some spots you did better than I often do on repeated playthroughs over decades. Give yourself some credit!

She isn’t using aim assist (anymore). She used it a bit in half-life 1 but turned it off. You can tell from watching; aim assist “bumps” the camera a bit as well, so you can see if it is off or on.

Hey, do what you feel is most comfortable and fun for you, but your aiming troubles might be because of high sensitivity, it makes precise aim much harder to do. Also, while aiming with a mouse definitely has a way higher ceiling than controller, you still have to get used to it. All that said you're still doing great, I don't think you're doing poorly at all. Really fun episode to watch!

Holding the sawblade like it’s a big cookie 😂

Amber: When you say you're not good with mouse and keyboard versus controller, I suspect that you are benefiting from aim assist which most modern games implement even if they don't mention it explicitly. Typically mouse / keyboard doesn't have aim assist enabled in favor of pinpoint accuracy inherit in how mice work. The effect can be pretty strong. You may even notice your reticle being "attracted" to the center of mass of your target when aim assist is working. From https://www.half-life.com/en/halflife2/20th : "Aim Assistance has gotten an overhaul making it feel better to use, and there are more configuration options available. Aim Assistance can be enabled separately for gamepad or mouse/keyboard input. The amount of assistance can be tuned up and down, and it’s no longer tied to a skill setting. Want to play on Hard with high aim assist, or Easy with it off? Knock yourself out."

I'm so happy you enjoyed these last two chapters! It's solid game design because you're given a new, unique "weapon" (gravity gun) and then immediately forced to learn how to use it in many contexts, since you're not provided with much ammo (until the shotgun) during the level. Also consider the contrast between the two weapons. Shotgun couldn't be more of a run-of-the-mill fps weapon and the gravity gun couldn't be more different and unique. I'm not going to spoil anything, but in case you aren't already aware there's some more... lengthy... sections ahead of you; just be prepared to not be quite as enthralled as you just were. Don't worry, there's some pretty awesome stuff as well (my 2 cents).

The saw blade lol. From begrudgingly switching to kb+mouse in HL1 to deftly juking past the endless zombie hordes - you've come so far and you did great! This level does rule, you're right to be hyped.

Great job in Ravenholm! This level traumatized me as a kid, but I couldn't stop going back to it

TheCrazyPriest

I adore the slow realization as to why the room was filled with sawblades. From apprehension to excited real quick!

Don't think I've ever seen you so impressed by a level in any of your videos - I think someone should go and check how many times you said "that's so cool" :D
