2025-09-23 12:43:11 +0000 UTCI really don’t like Elias here. There’s only so many ways to sneak in and out of their room, especially in winter. Elias is working really hard to *not* take responsibility for his own actions—he’s the one sneaking around cheating on his girlfriend and Gilbert, nervous/jealous about Leon’s unattached status, especially after Leon’s already admitted to something that can ruin his social standing at school, and stood up for Gilbert . Elias could take a minute to realize the discomfort he is feeling with Leon is entirely his own, but instead he jumps from one accusation to the next the moment he sees Gilbert. Leon is his own person, and casting him as an early version of himself is bizarrely self-centered of Elias and again casts Gilbert as a villain. We know that Gilbert is being physically and emotionally abused over the teacher’s death, and purposefully isolates himself at school. The relationship Gilbert and Elias are in is the way it is because of *both* of them—Elias has made clear they aren’t exclusive but gets angry at Gilbert hooking up with other people, and now has no idea what to do about the friendship developing between Gilbert and Leon and his jealousy about it. He lashed out at Leon, who was correct to tell him to stop projecting, and now he’s lashing out at Gilbert. He’s not taking any responsibility for his own choices. Gilbert knows Elias is there to have sex with him because that’s what he’s relegated their relationship to, and then gets offended when Gilbert isn’t interested in being yelled at. 🙄 Love these characters tho!
