I’ve always underestimated the usefulness of druidic types. Perhaps it was the chanting and tea leaf whispering that drew me away from their practices, but I can’t deny that there’s no better specialist to have by your side when you plan on trudging through dense wilderness. Their connection with the world around them is truly something magical to behold, even if they do often smell like wet dog. Anyways, here’s a little gift to give to the druids in your party, should they need it. Air fresheners are not included sadly.

Design notes from Matthew:
A design challenge I always like setting myself if making something interesting for lower levels. It’s something that I think a lot of designers should try as a practice. You really have to get a bit more creative with what you’re offering than just simple combat power or bonuses to certain mechanics. For me, a low level item will always be more difficult to design for than a high level one.
You’ll probably notice the weapon difference between 5E and PF2E if you look between them. Daggers are basically the closest you’re going to get to what this weapon actually is in 5E and I didn’t want to have to also include new weapon stats with it so I just let it stay on that base, but gave the mechanics some additional flavor. PF2E has a kukri built right in with proper stats so I leaned into that for the PF2E version.
I wanted to make sure this could give you some additional information and offer druidic types the chance to have something interesting to share with the party in the morning. Getting a rough idea of the weather seemed perfect for that kind of implementation .Tack on the additional tracking benefits, and now we’ve got a fun little mechanic to interact with on the regular that doesn’t lean overly combat heavy.
