Greetings adventurers!

Tearing through reality is something that few should take lightly. Behind the thin facade of sense, this world is a complex mesh of something very little of us understand. Perhaps we’re all just living in a complex simulacrum or perhaps the great expanses of this unknown world are just beyond our comprehension. Regardless, a chunk of that world beyond has found its way into ours and now it can be yours to rip and tear as you please. Wake up, we have villains to burn.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

Some of you probably know this about me, but I’m a massive fan of cyberpunk settings and I refuse to apologize for it. Every once in a while I like to bend the genres a bit and pull in things that might not fit with the world at large, but do have their place in the right kind of setting. This was one of those cases where I thought about what could be possibly ported from a cyberpunk setting into fantasy and that’s when I realized that we would have to be talking about something truly powerful.

For the 5E version, I was able to get a little cute with some of the naming of the abilities. I always think a good way to design something high rarity is to give it options beyond what could be present in the base game such that you’re really offering something that truly alters how the game plays.  We haven’t done much in the way of artifact level gear, but it was exciting to write one here that let me create something odd, digital clones that is.

In the PF2E version, they have a system already in place for minions and it seemed perfect to be able to summon in copies of yourself that gain that minion trait. It made for a really clean design to it which I prefer. The cost of summoning them is high with it taking 2 actions and then having to command them as well, but considering how powerful another player on the field can be, it seemed warranted.

We’re in the middle of Swordtember and we’re really finding these little design exercise to be such a fun time. It’s amazing how much you can do with just some swingy slashy things. Next week we’re cooking up not just an item, but a new friend for your campaigns in sword form. We hope you’ll love him.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.

The language around spending charges is standardized for the most part in 5E and was used here as it's used on other items. I agree that it doesn't make much sense for items like this, but I try to follow established system language when possible.

Query: For the 5e version, why allow the player to spend more than 3 charges? There doesn't seem to be any benefit to doing so
