Storytelling Socials WIP
Added 2021-03-21 16:09:58 +0000 UTCDon't have an in-game screenshot yet as I've only just added them, but here are the interactions I have in the new version:
- "Reminisce about First Meeting" -- newlyweds can discuss the first time they met, which, if successful, will grant both Sims a +2 happy moodlet that lasts 24 hours
- "Beg Pathetically to Be Taken Back" -- an alternate to "I Miss You" for ex-lovers in case you want a Sim to be utterly pathetic in asking to rekindle the romance. If it works, you will actually start dating again, but it might leave a bad taste in your Sim's mouth
- "Accuse of Starting Drama" -- a catchall interaction that can be done when your Sim has a variety of moodlets, from "Aggravating Conversation", "Unfaithful Love", "Caught Cheating", "Flirty Spouse/Soulmate", "Beaten Up", etc. The idea is that, for storytelling purposes, your Sim can point the finger at whoever they want, even the Sim who has given them those buffs
- "Insult Meat Eater" -- one of the interactions I was hoping to add based on traits that allows Vegetarians to insult non-vegetarians condescendingly. This was going to be in the initial release, but I wasn't sure if something like that was already in the game since I never play vegetarians.
- "Blame for Sadness" -- allows Gloomy Sims to blame someone for their sadness whenever they get any one of their "Feeling Sad" buffs
- Tell About Divorce -- this is actually in the current version, but I think that it's currently not available due to me unticking a certain box. I haven't playtested it yet, but for technical stuff: all of the interactions are Global Interactions. For all intents and purposes, this does not matter, but it means that when the game is booted up, every Sim in the world will have that interaction loaded onto them and for it to be available, they must meet certain conditions. Theoretically, if they weren't Global Interactions, it could be added through a buff. However, during playtesting, marking them as not-Global-Interactions made them not show up at all. Yet, at the same time, keeping romance interactions as GIs makes it so that if someone has been giving the Faithful flower arrangement, clicking the Romance menu on another Sim will cause all of the modded interactions to appear (though they'll be grayed out), disregarding testing conditions. Definitely not ideal for immersion's sake.
- Maybe "Tell About Recent Fight" -- a story interaction where, if a Sim wins a fight, they can describe it to another Sim. I didn't add this because it seemed ultimately inconsequential. Sure, I can make it grant a buff, but how does it help storytelling or add a gameplay mechanic? It doesn't, really. I'll think about it regardless.
I want to add some more interactions for the Parenthood relationship bits as well, especially the Punishing Parent relationship bit, since that's something I often have in my games.
