Beginning of the Month Update: September 2021
Added 2021-09-05 01:43:54 +0000 UTCWhat a stressful month it's been for me. Long story short, still don't have a house, our current house might not be closing, royalties from books have run out—lots of stress! But during this time, having this Patreon and having you all helps tremendously. So thank you.
Anyway, here's what I've been working on:
Storytelling Socials
I have a few new interactions, some that I have yet to test/fully create:
- Complain about Divorced Spouse: divorced Sims can complain to their new partner about their Spouse. There are two success outcomes: one is when their partner is glad that their partner is out of that relationship. The second has the chance to give a tense buff in which they say "I don't want to hear about your ex". I haven't written the buffs yet.
- Express Compassion: My initial idea for this was if a compassionate Sim dislikes someone, they can do this interaction which will make their conversation pleasant and boost their relationship. Very useful. Except I'm just not sure if it would ever succeed lol. If I make it and it doesn't, I'll come up with another idea for it.
- Caress: this interaction almost made it into 1.1. It's an interaction that rips the strokeArm animation from getting married. It didn't make it in because I couldn't figure out how to make them touch—well, that's not totally accurate. I missed something in the code that I think I've figured out. I forgot an appropiateness tag (it's complicated) and a test set (also complicated).
- Call a Freeloader: parents of adult children without jobs (or slobs/lazy sims) can call their children free loaders for living there rent free. I needed this recently.
- As always, if you have ideas, tell me! I'll try to implement it.
Better Autonomy
Well, it's out! I'm not entirely satisfied with the release version, so I've been fine tuning it since to make sure it's just right.

Here's what I got. Someone's reading a book, some are talking, one person is playing video games, one is being productive. I also raised the weight of playing instruments, so some Sims will play instruments while others talk and some program, practice writing, etc. Exactly like I wanted it.
There are "tiers" to how I want this to go. Ideally, it'll be broken down like this:
- Tier 1: the things Sims will want to do first. Right now, that's 1. talk to other Sims. 2. Build useful skills (handiness, writing, gardening, cooking). 3. Clean the house; washing dishes and cleaning dirty objects. The other day, I had Sims over at Generation 3's farm, and my neighbor went to clean my shower. So I'd say at least that works.
- Tier 2; Not-annoying-and-sometimes-useful-busy-work. Stuff that can be worth it, or that at least reflects how a household looks. Namely reading books, building other skills (Logic is one I want them to build—without using the goddamn chess board), other busywork like programming and woodworking.
- Tier 3 (bottom tier): everything they normally do. Watching TV, playing video games, annoying stuff. Ideally, they should only ever do this when they have nothing else to do. The StaticCommodities are tricky; if you set it too low, they won't do it at all. I set dancing at 1—went to the nightclub and nobody was dancing. Not ideal. Set it too high, they'll flock to it—I set it at 6 and turn on a stereo at the party. Non-stop dancing. Of course, that could've been the drama node (the event), but we'll have to see.
Easy Sentiment Cheats
Finally going to try to finish this up before I get super behind with all the new sentiments. Going to work on it a bit tomorrow after I finish working.
Small Mods
- More Celebrity Tile Swatches: they look horrible right now. Once I put more effort into the swatches, this'll be out lol
