I do have some pictures to show,but also a question.
The gameplay and curses version is done now and could be shipped, but I want to ship everything at once.
I do have a question here though:
I can either have the game be borderless windowed or bordered window mode.
It is either one or the other, because I don't want to add any extra complexity at this point.
Bordered window mode would allow me to only care about 2-3 resolutions at most and be done pretty quick (and don't have to use the overlay, which adds extra complexity)
Borderless window mode would look better though (in my eyes at least). You'd have the play field still fixed size (with 2-3 resolutions at most, like bordered window), but with a little overlay to make it cover the entire screen (the fake gameboy overlay you have in the last picture above).
Let me know what you think. Both versions have their pros and cons.

I think I'd prefer bordered window personally, though it'd be nice to have both options if not now then later. It's good to have the border either way as personally it can be overwhelming to me if I am viewing something up close without borders.
