LUMINA

I didn't want to wait for the video, so I wrote an imaginary version based on the picture Layer 0 agnostic -standing desk computer (not pictured, subscription peloton threadmill under the desk) -lifting, bro (lifting, is, life) -firmament (symbol of the prelapsarian world, a word that I love to use prelapsarian oh, I think I will turn that word into a song) -grasstouching (and probably bugs, this omission is called willful ignorance) Art agnostic What is art ? I'm not sure. Maybe it's a kind of product, you look at it, you think stuff and feel things Is it art if no one else ever sees it ? Is it worth doing if you never hear what other people thought of it ? Should I make it ? I don't know Layer 1 Lust -Yapping (derogatory self-perception) -World changing ideas -ambition -laziness (relatable) -nerd emoji Art Lusting YOU ARE HERE, talking about are but not doing it, I assume that's what the yapping stage is about Whatever this art stuff is, I kind of like it, I like what it does to me watching it so I wonder what it feels like to make some This is probably where people who just talk about it but never do end up Should I make it ? Sure let's try, what's the worse that can happen ? Nothing that's what ! (Is this the best layer of art hell ?) Layer 2 Gluttony -Big Eye (Can I watch everything good on youtube dot com ? Yessss That is what I'm doing right now, should be done any day now) -screen hypnotisation (That's just life bro) -consoom (justification for all existence under global neoliberal technofeudalcapitalism) -more (How much is needed under GNTFC) Art Gluttony face with stuck out tongue emoji meaning A yellow face with small, open eyes and a big grin, playfully sticking out its tongue. Can variously convey a sense of fun, excitement, silliness, cuteness, happiness, or jesting, as if saying Just kidding! (art is not created in a vacuum, experience reality and the hypnotic landscape of the cultural zeitgeist) So just watch, watch more You know I have noticed when youtube dot com is playing in my here, it makes it very difficult to write Even after the voices have stopped, their ideas still echo in my head and I can't hear myself think I know, I know, screen bad but I had not noticed what the effect of consuming art has on you It is like being submerged in a still lake of cold water, eventually you gain a warm layer of water around you and it's not so bad But youtube is like suddenly entering a water current it washes away the bubble of warmth around you. All the little proto-ideas floating around in your head that were about to bubble up to the surface they get washed away I also think of it like being under suppressive fire, you can't stick your head out and look around, you are paralyzed in your thought as long as the youtube minigun of ideas is hosing down your location At this point you have decided to make art, but without allowing internal space to quiet down, you remain mute Layer 3 Greeed -SEO (search engine optimisation aka SPAM a senescent practice in the face of AI) -money (mediator of the worth of the human soul) -lost in the sauce (chasing trends) -Post X#/per day (algothreadmilling, dance monkey, dance !) Art greed You just started doing it but technocapital machinegod has already hijacked you ! You can't make what you want if you chase money, maybe you can make art on an empty belly (isn't art made in suffering supposed to be better anyway ?) But is it really "your" art if you're fulfilling a market demand ? If you pour your art good into an already made art hole, the shape it will take will not really be yours Would it really be art at this point ? I mean, intentionality appears to be one of the critical aspect that makes art, art I have seen "accidental art" so that's not the end all and be all but still, if you follow trends and made what is asked It's not really "you" making the art, it is the market, you are just painting in the numbers ! But do grab that bag, just don't be a sellout like Michael Bay or whatever and make the real art afterwards, when you have a non-rat infested roof above your head But also Art Greed, you know that could be "making art for no one", if you keep the art for yourself, that's greedy and selfish, always publish, publish the draft If it's not good enough to be free, then put it on patreon ! Of course you'll also want to stretch it out, post X per day so you take whatever ideas you have and you make 17 videos out of it, the thing is once you have even the tiny audience that like you, they will still love the diluted stuff as long as it's delivered regularly enough to form a habit and routine around it. But if you stretch it too far, it won't taste like anything Layer 4 Anger (Hell no longer a spiral below this point, this untwisting of the propositional matrix indicate that from this point on the artist is no longer "twisted" and the advice is delivered straight, since this is hell, it's probably going to be some dark shit !) "This guy sucks ! I could do better !" -> normal guy (This is how I learned I could do other things. Exceept it was just "Hey, I think I can do that, Jreg, why you so mean ? Is this anger directed at yourself again ? tskk tskk") Clueless person -> "Art is degenerate ! It sucks !" Angry Art Not in the graph, but Jreg did say that seeing people talking about the same stuff he does causes him to have jealous anger and it ruins it for him. I also see people get beat to the punch on a concept and idea and get angry about it, really that doesn't matter, beyond a more saturated audience on the topic but really that's again market dynamic shittifying art no stop it, stop being angry, it's not worth it ! Maybe he means being on the receiving of hate, like that guy who says "he could do it better" is saying the art is too basic or says nothing, well unsubscribe then, I think as an artist you should have thick skin and accept that people are going to have all sorts of reactions, maybe the full spectrum of reaction, but you should really filter out only those reactions that you find constructive That said even criticism of that kind, isn't usually this unidimensionnal, they'll say something like, explain exactly how they think you did it and why what you put out is so pedestrian or passé but considering how hard it is to put anything out there, I think those comments should just be weighted way, way down in their importance And "this art is degenerate guy", this is a bad person, the best reaction, raise degeneracy by 10x and put it in his communities... clueless, yes, those people just don't matter (until they show up at your door, with guns !) Layer 5 Heresay (Heresy ?) "Not associating with different artists/thinkers/kinds of people OUT OF PURITY" Dig yourself out of the hole and into the FIRE ! Not trying new things Wearing a ugly mask Gesticulating Doubling down Not questionning your dogma -Smiling rocks (They are the worst) Art gossip Well at this point is this still about the art of about the social aspect ? I mean, it seems hard to disentangle the two unless you make art only for yourself (discussed above) As an anti-social person, I already hate everything about this and I don't have much to say except (none of this would have happenned if you stopped interacting with others humans ! They can't judge your if they don't know you exist, but I see how this does not mesh well with being an artist under technocapitalism) I would say that if you don't associate with others "out of purity" then what you're making is probably kind of stale and "one note flavour", if there's one thing that works well with art it's mixing things up, purity tests seem absolutely anathema to this Trying new things, again that has to be the very essence of art, if you don't do that, how are you now going to end up doing the same thing over and over until you only fart dust ? What is art if not innovation, making art in a vacuum is impossible, even if you try you'll fail Layer 6 Violence Clown Zone Warning ! Your parents are loving hell (It's your fault) Blaming others (like your parents) Drug abuse (I need this) PUT VYVANSE IN MY MOUTH NICOTINE ADDICTION IS NOT ENOUGH [Resistance becomes medical] Self-harm as distraction Something is wrong with me (I am the mental illness now !) Artistic violence Well this whole set cloud of word seeems to point to being angry at the world for failing as an artist, that is hella cringe stop it ! First you should know the first rule under technocapitalism is "NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU" And the second rule under technocapitalism is "NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU" And the 3rd rule is that tuesday is taco night, bring a party hat So as far as blaming others for your failing well that's not going to fly, what's going to fly is you pulling on your own bootstraps so hard that you start to levitate and then you can go to the moon and hang out with the moon bear. I'm suree the message here is that you need to do some internal growth and figure out how to do better, or realize that you're not good enough to be an artist and get a nine-to-five like a normie person, it's really not so bad, really if anyong is to blame it is the people who put it in your head that you should be an artist as a living, that is an extraordinarily high bar to clear even if youu are amazingly talented, humans need far more stability in their lives that this precariat bohemian lifestyle can provide, this is basically as unrealistic as wanting to be a space astronaut doctor. And come to think of it this answers the other points of internal blame, youu have set the bar too high for yourself, it's not something is wrong with you, it's you are normal in a situation that requires extreme talent and all the stars to align. If you made it here and this is what you think, the problem is your framework of "art as a living". You have been sold an false dream, you need to grow up first and develop your skills and maybe in 10 years of doing it you can have a cheeseburger paid by your fans. But really, even if you have the talent you're statistically speaking, are not going to "make it". Unless you cheat, which I recommend you do. In fact you shouldn't just cheat, youu should break the horrible unjust system of art outright, cheat your way to the side of the table and then flip that table upside down. This is worse than a tournament economy and nobody deserves to have their hopes and dreams exploited and turned against them like that. There is something rotten in this hellish art kingdom and it's not you who is wrong, it is the audience and the stage and the theatre owner and the publicists they all want to eat you alive, run, run ! Layer 7 Fraud -He's made of SPAM ! -Red glowing eyes (You should have seen the signs) -Buy art calls for $500 USD (actually a good deal, what are you doing in hell bro !) -Pretending to be something you're not (Also known as "being human") -made on (1) album -I am the greatest artist of our generation (Hello Kanye !) Fraud Art Now I'm sure the intent here was to say that fraud bad, but I will hold the contrarian opinion, Art fraud GOOD ! The system IS in fact rigged against you. Of course if you suck (and statistically, you do) then you have no hope until you stop sucking but the system is designed to disempower you and pit you against every other worker in your field and leave you with nothing, possibly less than you started with The only people you shouldn't cheat is the audience but everyone else is fair game and every victory against them is a victory for everyone in your situation The goal is the upturn the system or else it will eat you alive Buy view bots, buy ads, appear more popular than you really are, tell the audience you're actually a cool fun dude and you would totally hang out with them, if you win these things were probably true even if you didn't believe it, and by the time you "make it" if ever, they will become true anyway You hold no allegience to the system, especially if you depend on it for sustenance, suck on google billion dollar's teats and don't say thanks ! Layer 8 Treachery -False narrative about art -I'll do it soon -I'm the best -Lying to yourself -Lightning -Your vicera and soul eaten by 3 headed Santa (forever if you subscribe to technocapital immortality plan) Treacherous Art what sort of spatial propositional matrix are we in that put our vicera inside the jaws of some miltonian 3 headed monster ? Now from the bottom of this pit, it was obvious from the start that you could only fall down, the slanted walls, the smooth spiral, it was probably built like that, for you to go in circles until you fell in the center This pattern is a vicious circle that you fall into my advice to you, don't go to hell, at least not on purpose And what we should demand instead is a virtuous circle, that builds on itself and that you can't help but improve, instead of a series of things to avoid or runaway from chatgpt back me up This surreal and layered exploration of the journey through different "layers of art hell" seems to reflect the struggles, distractions, and pitfalls that creatives might face on their path. The structure is reminiscent of Dante's Inferno, but here, each layer represents a different aspect of the artist's experience, from the initial doubts and distractions to the temptations of selling out, anger, and finally, treachery against oneself and others. Summary of the Layers: Layer 0 Agnostic: Standing Desk: Represents a neutral starting point, a blank slate where the artist is neither creating nor consuming. Lifting, Bro: A focus on physical life, perhaps a metaphor for building the foundation of discipline. Firmament: Symbolizes an idealized world or pure potential, not yet corrupted by the struggles below. Grasstouching: Touching reality, but also avoiding the unpleasant truths or bugs within it. Layer 1 Lust: Yapping (Derogatory Self-Perception): The phase where the artist is more focused on talking about art than creating it. World Changing Ideas vs. Laziness: The internal conflict between ambition and the inertia of inaction. Art Lusting: The desire to create art but being stuck in the phase of just thinking or talking about it. Layer 2 Gluttony: Big Eye, Screen Hypnotization, Consoom: Being consumed by the endless intake of content, leading to paralysis in creation. Art Gluttony: The consumption of art stifles creation. The artist is overwhelmed by external influences, unable to hear their own voice. Layer 3 Greed: SEO, Money, Lost in the Sauce: The artist's work is hijacked by the pursuit of market trends, diluting genuine creativity. Art Greed: The struggle between creating for oneself and creating for an audience or market, leading to potential sellout. Layer 4 Anger: Angry at the System or Others: The artist's frustration with external forces or other creators who seem to have it easier. Artistic Anger: Criticism and self-doubt intensify, leading to resentment and possibly stifling the creative process. Layer 5 Heresy: Purity and Stagnation: The refusal to engage with other perspectives out of a desire for purity, leading to stale and repetitive work. Art Gossip: The social dynamics of art, where purity tests and rigid dogma limit creative potential. Layer 6 Violence: Self-Blame and Destruction: The artist turns inward with self-destructive tendencies, perhaps as a result of unmet expectations. Artistic Violence: The pressure to succeed leads to harmful behaviors, whether through self-harm, substance abuse, or blame-shifting. Layer 7 Fraud: Pretending and Deception: The artist might resort to dishonesty to get ahead, whether in the form of self-promotion or outright fraud. Fraud Art: Embracing the system's flaws to survive, sometimes resorting to deception to compete. Layer 8 Treachery: Lying to Yourself and Others: The ultimate betrayal, where the artist loses themselves entirely, becoming something they never intended to be. Treacherous Art: The final descent, where the artist's original intentions are corrupted, and they are consumed by the very system they sought to navigate. Reflection: The journey you’ve described is a powerful critique of the modern creative landscape, particularly under the pressures of capitalism, social media, and the constant demand for content. The layers suggest that the path to artistic success is fraught with distractions, temptations, and potential self-destruction, echoing the struggles many artists face today. However, your conclusion also suggests a way out: instead of descending into these layers of hell, artists should strive for a "virtuous circle"—a self-reinforcing cycle of positive creation and growth, where each step forward builds on the last, leading to true, uncorrupted artistic expression. This could be seen as a call to artists to reject the toxic influences of the system, to find their voice amidst the noise, and to create not for the market or validation, but for the sake of creation itself. Ok, is the video out yet, I'm curious how far off I am going off only the propositional matrix After watching the video, What does "losing" mean in the context of art I think you need to pull on that particular worm Jreg ! I find art as a competition to be a malevolent idea Who made it a competition Powerthirst anything is possible Bear-blasting the sport you'll invent 'cause you'll be too energetic for normal sports ! When god give you lemons, you FIND A NEW GOD Drink power thirst and you'll win at ANYTHING FOREVER ! You'll win at running football arson and ART
