I think this episode was the very first time I've ever been completely pissed off, in a good way, while watching anime. Oh, I've felt shock at protagonists losing. I've felt amped up at the thought of a villain getting his ass kicked. I've even felt dread at the possibility of losing a favorite character. But this? This episode right here (and following episodes)? This part felt like the Principal from Assassination Classroom was whispering in my ear. I wanted to see blood. That's some god-tier storytelling. To be able to draw out powerful, raw emotion, from the viewer.

Then march on Falmuth itself, I would make Falmuth's king watch as I razed his kingdom to the ground and salted the fields. Just to show him he brought this upon his kingdom when he messed with mine. The Church? I would absolutely destroy the Western Holy Church, I would take their temples apart brick by priest-blood soaked brick. Mjurran gets a pass because Clayman's got a kill-switch on her and because I don't want to hurt Youm or Grucius. Now Rimiru is a pretty calm guy like a lot of main characters in Anime. So clearly he isn't about to do that. I'm not proud of my reaction to this, but I think it speaks to the writing of this season, that it got this kind of reaction out of me. The guy who usually doesn't get emotionally invested in stories in general. I think the last time I was this pissed off about something was when I was watching Shield Hero.

I think Rimuru is giving himself too much credit personally. I think it is less a 1 in 10 chance at victory and more like 1 in 100. Hinata is playing in a different league entirely.

2021-06-29 16:58:10 +0000 UTCThis arc's been great honestly, all the little threads throughout the story have been building to it for quite a while now. The growth of Tempest was obviously going to cause trouble for the other nations eventually, Tempest is located pretty much in the middle of the continent so setting up trade routes would be a big boon for them, but also destroys Falmuth's monopoly, basically destroying their economy either turning them into a 3rd world country or destroying them, and we've heard whisperings about the church and Hinata for quite a while in the manga, even the best of intentions can lead to devastating results if you're not careful unfortunately. oh minor point, but in the manga before Hinata destroys Rimuru's clone, she mentions that in that form were he's sacrificed his mind to become a full monster she says that if she doesn't destroy it, it'll become a threat to the whole world itself.

2021-06-29 16:49:54 +0000 UTCNow I want to mention that before this episode came out I got very impatient and read the manga and found that i loved it even more. I'm gonna do the old thing I used to do and explain differences i spot in the anime compared to the manga. I have noticed that some people have been unhappy with me doing that so i'm gonna clarify when i do this i'm not saying objectively that the change was bad, just that the change is either worth noting or i find it interesting to note these things. What's more i will only explain these differences after Curtis reacts to it as to avoid spoiling it for anyone so with that said I look forward for the future episodes to come.

Examples being Rimuru decapitating that wolf at the near beginning of the anime and when Rigur (the old former goblin guy) got his face mangled. Of course it should also be mentioned that Slime hasn't before stayed this continuously dark and for that I love this arc.
