color process

i'm back from my trip :) and ready to color! This is how i do it:

1. I draw with pencil on 11 x 17 paper and scan it in. I included the original unaltered scan

2. I clean it up, edit out overlapping lines/mistakes, and turn up the contrast to get the stark black line. Then I block in colors, not paying attention to what exact color things should be but what things should be different colors

3. I go through and tone the pic to get consistent colors throughout and try to create the mood/vibe I want. I sometimes use the curves tool to help with this but do most of it manually/by just eyeballing it, because I don't want it to look like I just slapped a filter on it. Then I added on a png of the characters and adjust their colors accordingly.

4. I colored in the frames animation with the new colors

Would be very interesting to hear about why you choose the colours you do. It always look amazing and would be awesome to hear who inspired you when it comes to colour choices.
