Background: Gardenia used to go by a different name entirely, in fact the whole territory was ran by a man who just wanted to carve out his own slice of heaven. He was a skilled gunslinger and a lover of women. His name has been struck from the pages of history at the request of Josephine. This man had invited many women to his territory, offering them protection for a price. The man was nothing more than a glorified pimp.

He would hire out the services of the most beautiful women of the territory for a price, and pocket the rest. Any women who showed any kind of skill were trained to be his bodyguards and personal envoy. The men that joined the gang were given free reign of any woman of their choosing. Any woman who spoke up against him would receive immediate banishment, or be shipped off to the neighboring territory that belonged to the Dandies. It was incentive enough to not speak up against him, for fear of losing that protection.

However, one woman who was deemed the most beautiful on the planet, decided to rectify this. Josephine Green was an up and coming woman of the night, and the pimp’s main money maker. Men would empty their pockets just for one night with the Goddess. Josephine had a grand vision; a territory ran by women that could be a safe haven for women. And so Josephine began to plant her seeds and sow her plans. She started with the female entourage first.

Josephine began to whisper in their ear, and they were quite receptive to the idea of being rid of this man who did nothing but keep them around as glorified arm candy. After many days of planning and pulling other women into her ploy, the plan was hatched. In a single night that would be celebrated as “The Red Night” for days to come, Josephine made her grab for power. Many of the men in positions of power, were summarily executed in their sleep by women they were sleeping with.

In a show of great skill, his female bodyguards disposed of any of the remaining men that guarded him. He was kept alive for Josephine. No one knows what happened to him that day, or where his grave is. What we do know, is no one has seen him since. If anyone would take a guess from how Josephine treats those that break the rules in her city, the man probably passed in considerable pain.

After seizing power, Josephine sent gifts of wine and entertainment to each of the leaders in the other territories so that they may stay their hand. All but one recognized her as the new leader of the territory. The ones who did not, were Dapper Dan and his Dandy Men. The Dandies thought it would be a great idea to take control of the territory. They had an agreement with the previous leader, and were not about to start working with a woman.

The Dandies wanted the territory and the women for their saloons. They also wanted the vineyards and distilleries so they could make their own drinks for their saloons. Most of the land in the Dandies territory was not as fertile as the land that belonged to Josephine now. And so a bitter feud and bloody fighting lasted for months between the two territories. In that time, every woman in the territory was taught how to shoot and defend themselves.

Thanks to the quick thinking and brilliant tactical mind of Josephine, she had secured trade deals with her neighbors “The Five-Fingered Viscounts” to ensure that hefty supplies of arms and ammunition would be delivered to her territory. Soon the Dandies found themselves completely outnumbered by the sheer number of women they were up against. One man who managed to survive a fight said “There was a Sally with a Scattergun around every rock, corner, and tree.”

After significant losses, the Dandies retreated back to their territory to lick their wounds and plan for the next inevitable engagement. Currently there is a sort of cold agreement between the two territories. They do not trust one another, but they will continue trading.

Lesser Cities: Dionysa, Sincross, Angel Hallow, Purity Port

Dionysa: This city is where the majority of the brewing takes place. There are great vinyards as well as fields that grow various plants and vegetables to make the various wines and spirits that are shipped to other territories as well as used in the pleasure palaces. One of Josephine’s lieutenants resides here and personally tests the different brews and ensures operations run smoothly.

Sincross: This city is a city devoted to teaching. Any woman who goes here can learn how to weild a gun, learn a trade, or please others. It is required that every woman residing in the territory learn how to operate and take care of their own personal firearms. Those women who wish to engage in a trade can be taught at the schools here. Those that wish to learn the ways of the night, well they can learn there here too. For a price, men visiting the territory can volunteer to be used as a training pal.

Angel Hallow: This city is filled with people who simply want to live in peace. Merchants, farmers, and various other types who want to live in peace as long as they follow Josephine’s rules. Angel Hallow has a large population, because many women who find a man they love will relocate to this city and raise their children here. The City is known for it’s pristine look and it’s low crime rates. It is truly heaven among the wild lands of Purgatoire

Purity Port: Is a city located on the waters that surround junction. If anyone wishes to enter the territory or trade with the territory, they do it from Purity Port. Purity port sails constantly to Junction to sell or pick up new arrivals to the planet.
