My 17 year old daughter isn’t afraid to go back. She says she’s used to it because schools already want them to believe every day could be their last, and it could be the kid sitting next to them that kills everyone. Except now it might be a lethal sneeze instead of a gun. Kids haven’t been allowed to feel safe in school in a long time and GenZ just does not care anymore. Our school board’s official re-opening plan included a section about modifying “Active Shooter Drills” to accommodate social distancing. It made me laugh when I read it, but then it literally made me feel sick and I walked into my kitchen and cried. Socially distant active shooter drills? Crayola masks in the back-to-school shopping ads? This is not OK. My kids are 24, 21, and 17, and for the first time ever, I’ve started to wonder if I should’ve brought children into the world.

Content like yours inspires people to give a shit about these issues.
