1 Million Subs Update
Added 2021-01-22 21:53:26 +0000 UTCHowdy, friends! As you may have seen, the channel just hit one million subscribers yesterday. It's honestly a bit surreal. In my head I'm still the person making simple whiteboard explainer videos for a handful of subscribers. Building the channel into what it is today would not have been possible without all of you wonderful people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Now, getting to a million subs is great, but we can't rest on our laurels! So, with that in mind, here are some of the plans I have for the near future.
1) Foreign language versions of the channel. In order to make our message more universal, we need to expand beyond English. With that goal in mind, I've started building Second Thought en Español, which will hopefully soon be followed by other languages. Each language will have its own dedicated channel.
2) A Second Thought Website. YouTube is a handy way to reach a lot of people, but we need to build our own home on the internet. I'm in the process of working with a development team to build a Second Thought website, which will not only host my videos, but also articles written by lefties from around the world, as well as a repository of links and resources for beginners interested in our worldview.
3) A Podcast. I'm working with a good friend of mine to start producing a podcast designed to peel back the facade of capitalism and look at its inner workings. We want to make a show that's accessible to complete beginners, but thorough enough to make a real case for why an alternative system would lead to a brighter future. We're in the process of writing the first episode now, so stay tuned.
4) Traditional documentaries. Can you name a single Leftist documentarian? Michael Moore, maybe. There's a near complete lack of non-fiction cinema from a Leftist perspective, and I hope to change that in some small way. I have the gear and the know-how, now I just need the time. To that end, I'm working on delegating some of my menial editing work to a third party. This would free up a ton of time for me to go shoot footage and conduct interviews. My first big project is a 12-part docuseries on the resurgence of fascism, which should premiere in Q2 or Q3 of this year.
There's so much to do, and it'll be a lot of work, but I think it'll be well worth the effort! I hope you'll join me in the effort to turn Second Thought into something more than just a YouTube channel. There are so many people to reach, and we're just getting started!

Very excited about the podcast idea. I have a hard time focusing on YouTube videos but I will listen to podcasts for hours!
2021-02-07 16:53:44 +0000 UTCI don't consider Michael Moore to be a left wing doco maker .. he's pretty centrist and says some outrageous things. We are lucky to have on Earth John Pilger. I've recently been watching (on YouTube), The Coming War on China. Another great lefty doco maker passed away last year - Andre Vltchek. So the good guys are out there. As are the good girls like Vanessa Beely and Eva Bartlett. Unbelievably, if you do a Google search for Bartlett, Wikipedia and Google both appear to be trying to discredit her as a conspiracy theorist. Likewise the website 21st Wire, which is no more left than the Times is right, yet is labelled by Google (courtesy of which sites it promotes through its search engine, as a conspiracy promoting website). Lord of the Heavens, like the NYT and the Guardian don't promote their own disinformation - watch out for raging antisemitism in the Labour Party (Guardian conspiracy - the Tories are completely clean right), or the NYT who claim 1 million Uighurs are in detention (never mind that incarcerating so many people would cause an insurrection in Xinjiang and would cost so much to implement).

If the work of Prof. Wolff has been any indicator, I’m sure we’d have a fair bit of success. Leftist documentaries are really missing and needed.. also please look into how Michael Moore promotes his movies and how to get the films to air on traditional channels like tv/cinema as well.
