Why The United States Can't Handle Crises

Howdy, friends! This week's video is a collab with Yugopnik, so make sure to watch their video when it goes live on Friday! In this episode we'll explore why America always seems to be in a state of crisis, and why we're never able to handle the situation appropriately. I hope you enjoy!

Why The United States Can't Handle Crises

Truth that stings, but every American should watch

hack the sytem

awesome ! the folks on wall street hacked the system to put tons of money in their pockets. How do we "hack the system" to achieve a true democratic state.

I agree that just blaming sugar is an oversimplification, and that "irresistible" processed foods are likely to be the worst issue (e.g. donuts, potato chips). However I think that his main point stands that there is an industry based on making food that is supposedly healthier but that isn't really. It's a combination of vested interests and blanket approaches. Unfortunately, there is no one approach that fits all. All the topics covered by this channel are extremely complex: that's why they're areas where a huge industry has been made of taking advantage of people's ignorance. I think overall he's done a great job, although I agree that sometimes there are oversimplifications.

I am disappointed with this video. Your claims about the causes of obesity are not accurate. Sugar is not the sole cause of obesity. The obesity epidemic is caused by excess sugar and FAT and processed foods in general which are designed to be “irresistible”, also the sedentary lifestyle of Americans plays a big part. The research on the dangers of a high fat diet, especially high saturated fat, is still very solid despite the keto conspiracy theories. You do a disservice to your watchers when you oversimplify a complex issue to bolster your point and it really makes me wonder how often you do this on topic for which I am less informed.

It's America's version of capitalism that’s the issue. It use to be that American companies had a sense of loyalty to the country and the workers, but somewhere along the lines it got corrupted and became only about the shareholders and maximizing profits. There are other capitalistic countries that do right. Especially the nordic region of Europe. They have capitalism, but not at the expense of the workers.

I’m tiered of these videos and dumb conclusions. The problem isn’t capitalism, it’s America culture.

anyone else want a hour long video or is it just me? like he could make the hour long video for the patrons and a shorter one for youtube

The Vietnam joke is funny because it's true.

Prometheus

Great video, as always. Now, what to do about this new knot in pit of my stomach ... 😩

1. That Vietnam joke was simply excellent. 2. Any fair comparison of coronavirus responses in Vietnam and the USA has to mention the songs. Vietnam had an extremely catchy little tune telling people what to do. The USA had offkey celebrities singing, bizarrely, a socialist anthem of international peace and solidarity to I dunno, lift the spirits of the poor while offering no real help?

Very well done

We aren't inherently selfish though and so much science has proved that. We need to stop competing with each other and start working together! It's the only way we will survive.

Seriously we will never move forward like other countries until we start emulating models we know work and help create new ones for our existential crises facing us.

Excellent video.

Lisa Eugene

WOW, excellent work, that was truly incredible!

It makes me so sad that this is all so very true. What’s wrong with us as a species that we are so selfish and greedy? I think if we’re honest, we have to admit to ourselves that the universe (and especially Earth) would be so much better off if we weren’t around.
