Congratulation on another great video! I'm glad I'm a patreon to your project. Here in Portugal, where I'm from and always lived, the people have a distorted view of the USA. Most of the public image shown in the media is of a nation of freedom and glory. I know it isn't so, that in fact the USA ranks way worse than Portugal in many fundamental issues, like healthcare and drug usage in society, and we are just a tiny country with a feeble economy. I wish you and all the people in the USA the best of luck in your fight against capitalism - it was useful for a time but it's time to move on. If you succeed, we all succeed.

Ugh 36% of workers in the gig economy? This is the problem with maximizing shareholder value over workers rights. I hate how hard we have to fight for the same things that our peer nations take for granted. It shouldn't be this hard to get basic human needs.

Is it just a coincidence that all those measures against the peoples' rights and social benefits had started right after the collapse of the Soviet Union?

Oh for sure, I totally agree. But this video is aimed at the people who idolize Reagan and Thatcher and, while problems had already begun to crop up in the early 80s, criticizing their “good old days” is a surefire way to get them to exit the video. Had to ease them into the criticism.

One issue I have with this video. I turned 18 in 1980. Trust me, the early 1980s, while great in terms of the underground music scene, were terrible for someone entering the workforce. Union-busting was already well underway and Reagan and (in my case) Thatcher in the UK were already making things much harder for the working class. What we see now hasn't only been going on for 30 years - it's been going on for over 40 years.
