true but consider communist horizons needn't be constrained to its state forms such as China and the former USSR. There's communist traditions much more autonomous and humanistic in their core ideology. The Operismo/Workerism approach developed by Italian communists in the 60s is a good example. Also it's worth considering how much sabotage the US and UK conducted against emerging communist movements in the global south post WW2. I believe in socialist politics but a classless society is something we should move toward ultimately.

hey fwiw, state communism is by no means the only destiny for communist horizons. In fact it may be more a remark on the historical hegemony of state structures in the 20th century (and yeah still) than something internal to communism itself. The state form went global in pace w/ industrialization in Europe and N America. Neither can a simple rejection of feudalism explain this globalized statism.

Yes, the push to demonize communism can't be overlooked. I have some hope it won't reach Mc/carthy red scare levels. I see a lot of reactionary iconography where I live also.

The myth of Republican diversity in education is evident when you see only Capitalism raised up and Socialism is equated with communism and rarely if ever taught. It seems to me that authoritarian communism and neo-Fascism are similar in that they have their own fear bubble that they want you to live in.

And thus, history repeats... Slowly but surely....

I've noticed in my "redneck" part of the woods a surge in flying the yellow "don't tread on me" flag instead of the us flag. A new kind of old virtue signalling for that kind of crowd.

Deja vu all over again! The problem is they are so effective in their rhetoric. So frustrating to see how the soundbites and flag waving reach people emotionally.

I was very pro-capitalist and libertarian in University. I didn't discover socialism until my late twenties.

Complete and utter propaganda. The problem for them is that we now have the internet... and any kid over 4 years old knows how to use it. It won't be long before grade schoolers call bullshit.
