Just joined because you’re saying everything that needs to be said, and frankly am desperate for sanity. What’s amazing in most of your posts is how the opposite of what too many people believe to be true, is in fact true. It’s vital to a nations functioning that it knows who and what it is, what it is defending, and how the pieces of the puzzle fit together so that they are more difficult to be undone. But how do we solve the problem that great disparities in wealth have always created, which undermines our best efforts? Truth is one thing. Access to the levers of power, another. My only take is evolution. In the dialectical interplay of our machinations, the back and forth of forces in time, a critical threshold reaches a critical awareness that a) doesn’t crave power and b) can spot those who do and work to neutralize their impact.

I roll my eyes when people crap on about freedom here in the US. It's an ironic thing to claim when the incarceration rate is so high, and given the freedoms I have in Australia and Europe that I miss here. There are a few unique freedoms here, but they nearly all have to do with guns and bad corporate citizenship, and aren't things I'm eager or proud to have.

Imagine discussing Freedom in a colony of the US, where the 20th century’s pro-American propaganda has been beating the independence sentiment in Puerto Rico so much that today there is still people believing that becoming a US state is a ‘fair’ option, however the independence movement is growing more and more nowadays. If anyone is interested in the US-PR relationship, I recommend the book: The War Against All Puerto Ricans. It’s hard because we haven’t been independent since the colonization/enslavement of the Americas in late 15th, early 16th century. 400 years by Spain and 123 years by the US. Can we catch a break? Are we gonna reach the millennia?

Going by their track record, the right only cares about freedom insofar as they can use it to ignore social mandates, dodge regulation, and abuse the lower classes. They have no problem restrict women's freedom to have an abortion, or people's freedom to marry, or any number of progressive freedoms.

I love the work you do, but I feel we need to beat the economics and how we elect people drum much harder. It is something that a lot of working class people can get behind...regardless of whether they are right or left. Nobody likes essentially having no representation of their views because some person won a plurality of the votes cast. You know?
