Doing Whatever It Takes

CHAPTER ONE - Good Morning

Kyle lay in bed staring at the clock on his phone. He'd woken up just fifteen minutes before his alarm was due to go off and would've killed to be able to fall back asleep till it did, but from all too frequent experience as of late, he knew better than to think he'd be lucky enough for that to happen…

From right behind him came the soft snores of his boyfriend, Wesley, but they weren't what had roused him and now kept him up. Over the course of their years together, Kyle had grown accustomed to Wes' snoring, so much so he now found it oddly comforting yet simultaneously easy to ignore. It hadn't always been, but now it was just white noise.

No, what was responsible for waking Kyle early and keeping him that way, were the same two things that did all too often. This early morning, he woke when one of said "things" shifted slightly more than usual, putting even more of its weight against his bladder, forcing a grunt from him he tried his best to stifle.

"Alright, alright…" he grumbled quietly as he moved his upper hand down to the spot the movement had emanated from. "I'm up!"

Thing was, he actually wasn't… While Kyle was awake, he wasn't up yet, as the formerly simple task of getting out of bed now took a lot of effort and he now had to be mindful and careful when doing so, so as not to throw his back out or pull an already strained muscle even more! So ever so slowly, using the compressed mattress beneath him and the headboard behind for support and some much needed leverage, he maneuvered himself to a seated portion, all while trying to keep his grunts, groans, heavy breathing and bed jostling to a minimum so he wouldn't wake Wes. Despite his best efforts, he still did…

"What time is it?" A deep, sleep-filled voice asked from behind as a large hand reached out and down to ghost across Kyle's plump, bare bottom.

"Too damn early…" he replied with a sleepy, drawn out sigh as he rubbed the top of the swell that now way more than filled his lap, even with his legs spread as wide as he could get them to go. "Sorry I woke you up, babe. Go back to sleep…" he quietly suggested.

"It's fiiiiiine…" Wes yawned as he shifted. "Gotta be up in an hour anyway."

Kyle rolled his eyes before raising them to the ceiling of their room. "Do you know what I'd do for another hour of sleep?"

"I could make some guesses, or I could just remind you again that you wouldn't have to do anything if you'd just tell them enough is enough!" Wes pointed out through another yawn as he scooted up behind his boyfriend and peppered his lower back and the tops of his ass cheeks with kisses. "I can't… believe… they're still… making you work?!" He said between pecks.

"You can't?" Kyle snorted. "We're talking about Chad and Steven, neither of which are known for having hearts!"

"Or consciences… Really makes me wonder what kind of dads they're gonna be?"

"Well we'll be finding out soon! In just two more weeks, I'll get to hand these two over…" Kyle sighed as he looked down past his bloated breasts to his incredibly bloated belly. "If I even make it that long!"

"Which you probably won't if they keep making you come in so early!"

"They're not making me," he sighed again as he shook his head. "If I said something, I know they'd let me work from home, but I have to be there! I can't afford to lose momentum now, and besides… You know this whole thing's a test! Chad and Steven are making sure I'm dedicated to them and the firm!"

Wes grunted. "This is one seriously fucked up test if you ask me… All in the hope that they're going to…"

"Stop!" His boyfriend cut him off. "They will promote me. If my carrying their damn kids doesn't prove my loyalty, I…" he trailed off, struggling to complete the sentence. "Anyway, it will," he nodded. "They're going to promote me, I know it."

"You're right, babe, they will," Wes agreed, quickly changing his tune since he knew having another argument on the matter was pointless. They'd already talked about the promotion Kyle's bosses were dangling in front of him like a carrot to a horse a thousand times by then and hadn't gotten anywhere but annoyed with each other.

"Yeah…" Kyle replied with a small shrug, no longer sounding so certain. "Well, seeing as you're up now, wanna help me actually get up?"

"Sure thing."

With ease that made his doubly and now extremely pregnant boyfriend quite jealous, Wes hopped out of bed, turned on the lights and then made his way over. Another wave of envy hit Kyle when his boyfriend's naked, toned, and oh so sexy body came into view… Even though he hadn't been to the gym in a couple of days, Wes looked delicious as ever, with defined muscles and vascular bulges in all the right places. While he wasn't an up and coming criminal defense attorney like his grave lover, Wes was just as good at reading cues and picking up on tells, so he knew just what Kyle was thinking as he looked up at him from his sagging side of the bed.

"Don't worry, babe… You'll get back in shape," he assured Kyle as he held out his hands, only for his boyfriend not to take them as he gave an obviously doubtful shake of his head before looking down at himself again.

"Look at me…" he groaned as he placed his hands on his bulging flanks, frowning as his chin found itself buried in the deep and ample cleavage he'd developed over the course of the last few months.

"I am," Wes replied with a nod. "I mean I have to 'cause your belly has such a strong gravitational pull, I couldn't look away if I wanted to!" He chuckled, his laughter and joke making Kyle's head shoot up and his hazel eyes narrow with disdain. "I'm kidding, hon! Kidding!"

"Not about me being HUGE!" The twin-filled attorney huffed as he took his hands off himself and reached out for those belonging to his naked boyfriend. "Ready to do this?"

"Ready," Wes confirmed. "One, two, three!"

"Ooof!" Kyle exhaled as he used his legs to push while his hands locked extra tight around Wes' as he used his strong upper body to pull.

"Jesus!" Wes laughed, stumbling back a couple steps before catching his balance and steadying himself.

Kyle had to laugh too as he involuntarily lumbered forward till the front of his protruding belly collided with his boyfriend's toned abs which thankfully, were strong and solid enough to bring him to a stop.

"Good morning," Wes smiled down at him as they released one another's hands and he placed his atop the massive pregnancy taking up all the space between them.

"Good morning," Kyle echoed, somewhat less enthusiastically as he leaned in over his belly for a kiss, his man making up the distance he couldn't cover on his own. He closed his eyes and sighed as he moved his hands down to his lower back. "Would you believe it hurts already?" He asked after their lips had separated and he went to work strongly massaging the already tightly strained area with his fingers.

Wes stepped back to assess his handsome as he was pregnant lover for a few moments before nodding that yes, he did believe it. "Looking at you, I have all the evidence I need to consider that statement to be a fact!"

"You're such an ass!" Kyle laughed again despite himself.

Being the much more mobile one of the pair, Wes moved forward and placed his hands on his boyfriend's shoulders, pulling them towards him for an awkward embrace. "But I love you!"

"Yeah, yeah, I love you too…" the pregnant man groaned.

"I can show you just how much I do if you'd like?"

"Babe…" Kyle groaned again. "I wish you could right now, but I've gotta get ready. Speaking of which, it takes me so long to get ready for sex now, that…"

"Who said anything about sex?" Wes laughed. "I was talking about making you breakfast while you get ready!"

"Oh! Um…"

"But sex does sound like a much better way for me to show you just how much I love you!"

"It really does, doesn't it?" Kyle agreed with a chuckle. "But if I'm late to court, Chad and Steven will kill me!"

Wes shook his head and sighed loudly as he walked over to his dresser, giving his fecund boyfriend a wonderful look at his ass in the process. "Tonight then," he relented as he opened the second drawer from the top and pulled out a pair of pajama pants. "You gonna be home at a decent time?"

"Hopefully… All depends on how court goes," Kyle replied with a yawn as he waddled towards the bathroom. "What about you?"

"You know I'm always home before six!" Wes chuckled and smirked as he pulled his pants on, loosely tying their drawstring. "There's not many of 'em, but one of the perks of being a patent lawyer is that I have set banking hours. Oh, and that my bosses don't ask me to get pregnant for 'em!" He added with a wink.

"Whatever, PATENT lawyer!" Kyle teasingly snorted. "One day, I'm gonna be the biggest defense attorney in the state, and then this'll all have been worth it!" He said as he looked down at himself, trying again to convince himself of what he'd just said.

"One day..?" Wes repeated. "Come on now, babe…"

"Guess I kinda set myself up for that one, didn't I?"

"Just a little. Blueberries in your pancakes?"

"Why not?"

"And scrambled eggs and bacon?"

"Please," Kyle nodded before adding, "And some sausage too?" with a smile.

"If you want some sausage, I've got…"

"Good try, but not gonna work!" He laughed as he entered the bathroom, leaving his tempting and teasing boyfriend behind before he could all too easily entice him into deciding to do something that would definitely make him late to court. "Save that sausage for later and go cook me some I can eat now!"

***

Kyle's fifteen extra minutes were quickly consumed by how long it now took him to get ready for work. From going to the bathroom, washing all the extra inches he'd added to his body and then finally getting dressed, the doubly pregnant lawyer had to make fast work of the impressive breakfast spread Wes had whipped up for him.

He was breathing hard by the time he plopped down at the table, but that didn't stop Kyle from digging right into the delicious looking and smelling feast. He had to sit sideways since his twin-filled belly now demanded so much space, which meant he had to be mindful not to get any syrup or grease on his shirt. The last thing he needed or had time for was to have to unstuff and then stuff himself into a new one!

That being said, Kyle's appearance was important to him, especially when he went to court. Chad and Steven had one of the most successful law firms in the city, so their clients expected their counsel to dress accordingly, which meant three-piece suits, incredibly expensive, handmade silk ties, gleaming cufflinks, and of course, Italian dress shoes were a must. It was rather old-school and very gaudy, but Chad and Steven had set expectations so all their underlings complied, even if they were ridiculously pregnant…

Dressing in such a manner demanded a lot of a "normal" person, as well as required a good deal of patience, so for Kyle, who had a giant globe strapped to his middle and two smaller ones perched atop it, it had come to be quite the ordeal. Not only did he have the usual pieces of attire to deal with, he'd had to add in a few extras over the last several months…

First, there was the belly band Wes had gotten him, which while helpful, had become increasingly more difficult to work onto and fasten around his bulging middle. The spandex and lycra it was constructed from had been a godsend at first, but now the band could only provide so much support. As Kyle and Chad and Steven's babies continued to expand his way into the monumentally pregnant category, the poor belly band didn't stand a chance.

The second "new" piece of clothing he'd added to his daily repertoire was a bra. Kyle had hated wearing one at first, but as his chest bloated and filled with milk he'd already agreed to pump and deliver daily to his bosses to feed their children (making himself a literal milkman,) it wasn't long before he stopped resenting his bras and came to rely on them. Now, as Kyle approached the twins' due date and his milk production had ramped up accordingly, the bras he wore not only provided his breasts with support, but were an additional layer of protection against embarrassing wet spots forming on his perfectly pressed, now custom-ordered paternity dress shirts.

Over at the sink as he began cleaning up the small mess he'd made, Wes watched his man go to town on his first meal of the day. Though he'd had months to witness and somewhat get used to it, it was still odd for him to see Kyle eat so much and with such reckless (but careful not to stain his clothes) abandon… Before getting pregnant Kyle had always been careful about what and how much he ate, but now that he was carrying two lives and given how big his belly had gotten, it was evident much like their biological fathers, the twins were rather greedy.

Not that it'd been given much consideration or concern before Kyle agreed to carry, but surprisingly, Wes didn't mind any of the many and literally quite large changes his boyfriend's body had undergone. That being said, he would've preferred his man to look the way he usually did, but Wes was in it for the long haul and knew Kyle would eventually get back to it. They were both still relatively young, so despite the incredible amount of growing Kyle had done over the last almost nine months, there was still a good chance he'd be able to return to his former, hunky glory. But even if he didn't or simply couldn't, Wes wasn't going anywhere, especially since seeing his boyfriend pregnant now had him looking even more forward to the time when Kyle would be carrying their children, ideally, one at a time…

"This is… amazing… babe," the expectant man genuinely complimented between chews and swallows. "I'm so lucky… to have you… and that, mmm! Damn this bacon is GOOD!" He licked his lips. "Anyway… Can I ask you… something?"

"Always," Wes nodded as he dried off the pan he'd made the pancakes in. "What's up?"

Before he replied, Kyle let loose a massive belch. Neither he nor Wes even bothered cracking a smile or chuckling, as the expulsion of air from one hole or the other was something they'd both gotten extremely used to over the course of the pregnancy.

"Was I crazy for doing this?"

Wes forced himself to not frown, sigh, groan or roll his eyes. He hated this question for many reasons, but mainly because he'd been asked it in some form or another, countless times by then. The first time he'd answered had been the same day Chad and Steven had approached Kyle, who then of course, told him as soon as he got home (late that night) and asked his opinion. He'd answered it again when Kyle questioned him again a few months into the ordeal, shortly after he found out he was carrying twins.

There were other times too and each time, Wes replied carefully but honestly, while being as supportive and understanding as possible. He intended to do the same again, but this time, Wes couldn't help but be more than a little annoyed that somehow, some way, his boyfriend still wasn't confident in the decision he'd now so obviously made all those months back…

"Some would probably say crazy," he nodded. "Me, your loving boyfriend included, most of the time, but…" he paused before quickly assuring, "I understand why you did it."

"You do?" Kyle asked (yet again.)

Wes nodded (yet again.) "You know how I feel about Steven and Chad, but that being said, I know that a lot of people would've done way weirder or worse things just to have a chance to work with them," he shrugged. "I think and I hope that in the long run, you doing what you did will pay off."

"If it makes you feel any better, I think I was crazy to do it now too," Kyle finally admitted. "It's just that…"

"You thought it would open up doors for you, which it might. Shit, it better!" Wes huffed. "Not that your own talent and smarts wouldn't eventually have done the same, which I've told you!"

"I know, but you know me…" Kyle sighed as he wiped his mouth with the napkin he pulled from his collar he'd stuffed it into. "I don't like waiting for stuff to happen! I like making it, or at least trying to!"

"Don't I know it!" His boyfriend grunted. "But speaking of waitingshouldn't you be headed down to the bus stop?"

"Not today," he shook his head. "I knew I wouldn't have it in me to wait for and then take the bus, then the train, and then have to walk the rest of the way, so I asked the guys to send Quincy to pick me up."

"Oh?" Wes raised his brows.

"Surprisingly, they agreed without complaint, so I'll give 'em that."

"Or maybe they'd just gotten used to him being on vacation?" He shrugged.

"Or that…"

Still, Wes smiled, happy to know his very pregnant boyfriend was going to have an easy commute that morning. He would've preferred Kyle to stay home, but knowing how stubborn and driven the other man was, it wasn't worth suggesting as it would only result in another argument. There was no point in trying to talk Kyle out of going above and beyond to get ahead, which couldn't have been any more obvious given his present condition.

When Kyle finished eating, Wes once again offered his hands and working together, the couple got him back onto his feet. As Kyle adjusted the parts of his outfit he could easily reached and checked himself a final time in the mirror in the hall, Wes bent down to retrieve the two bags his boyfriend always carted around with him, one containing his laptop, the other the plethora of legal pads he scribbled notes on while in court if and when electronics weren't permitted.

"Want me to carry these down for you?" He offered.

"I'll be alright," Kyle replied as he took the bags one at a time and expertly hoisted them onto his shoulders, somewhat balancing himself out. "Thanks for the yummy breakfast," he smiled again as he leaned over his belly to the right for a kiss.

"Anytime," Wes winked before getting somewhat more serious. "Now promise me you'll be home at a decent time tonight…"

"I promise I'll try, but you know I can't actually promise," the junior lawyer replied with a sigh as he turned and started slowly lumbering towards the front door.

"Come on… Really, Kyle!" Wes huffed as he reached out and gently grabbed his boyfriend's closest shoulder, keeping him from leaving the apartment till he'd made his point. "If you won't ask them for the rest of the pregnancy off, at least tell them you need to work more reasonable hours! I don't want anything bad happening to you or the babies, even if I can't say the same for their fathers!"

Kyle knew Wes was right. He didn't even hate to admit it seeing as there simply wasn't any denying it. He knew it was beyond time to tell Chad and Steven they'd been taking advantage of him. That it was ridiculous they expected him to show up at court just to take notes for them when he could go into labor with their children any time now!

There was no question whether or not Kyle had proved himself. He'd already done so in spades, so like Wes said, it was (past) time for him to put his aching, swollen foot down and tell his selfish bosses enough was enough. Before that would or could happen though, he still unfortunately had another long day at court ahead of him…

Despite all the renovations the post-war building he and Wes lived in, had undergone over the years, the elevator was still the original and as such, now incredibly slow. Normally this annoyed Kyle to no end but now, it gave him more time to think, and it was a very good thing it did… It finally hit him that he'd forgotten something even the worst attorney knew to use to their advantage if and when they could: he was the one with "the power."

Kyle was the one with the literal goods, both of which were presently moving about languid within him. As he looked down at his massive belly, he focused on the tie vertically bisected his most (and more than) prominent bulge…  The tie was new, a pick-me-up present Wes had sweetly gotten for him the week prior. When Kyle noticed how bunched up it was despite his recent adjustment to try and keep it lying flat, he suddenly felt very annoyed and utterly stupid for having allowed the men he worked (and carried) for take such advantage of him, solely based on the hint of the possibility he might be promoted to a lead attorney, if he, in their words, "came through for them on this 'little' project."

"Little project!" He indignantly huffed as the elevator finally arrived. He was fuming by the time it had descended to the lobby. Kyle's attitude didn't improve in the slightest as he waddled out to the street.

His anger grew when he caught more than a few people blatantly staring (even if he couldn't say he really blamed them) as they passed by at a much quicker pace than he could currently even dream of moving at. By the time he made it to the dark gray Mercedes Benz EQS sedan waiting at the curb for him, driven by Quincy, who was too distracted playing a game on his phone to notice his approach, Kyle angrily flung the back door open, tossed his bags inside without caring whether they scratched or marred the expensive interior of one of Steven and Chad's rides, and had half of his bulk in the cramped (to him, anyway) car, when he made up his mind.

"Oh! Sorry!" Quincy apologized as he tossed his phone aside and looked back. "I was… Good God, man!"

"Hello to you… too!" Kyle huffed, literally, as he worked the rest of himself into the car and then slammed the door. He knew Quincy thought of the car as one of his children and expected it to be treated as such, but he couldn't have cared less about that at the moment as the Mercedes really belonged to their mutual bosses.

"Kyle..?"

"What?"

"Well first, hello… It's good to see you," the driver chuckled as he continued turning back in his seat to address his passenger(s.) "My vacation was very nice, thanks for asking. Now lemme ask you something…"

"What?!" Kyle uncharacteristically snapped back a second time.

"Am I really taking you to court?"

"That's the plan."

"Do you want to go to court?"

"What the hell do you think?!"

Quincy's smile grew as he nodded. "I was hopin' you'd feel that way!"

"Why?"

"Because!" He shook his head. "I was gone for two weeks and I thought by the time I got back, you'd have either given birth or been put on bed rest! But here you are, in the back of my car, lookin' like you shoulda popped four days ago, and I'm still supposed to be bringin' you to work?!" He shook his head some more. "That ain't right, Kyle!"

"You sound like Wes…"

"I'm glad your boyfriend shares my sentiment!" The older man nodded. "Now why don't you?"

"I do now!" Kyle nodded and shouted. "On my way down, I decided today's my last day going to work, screw whatever Chad and Steven have to say about it! After today, I'm not going back to court or even the office till after the twins out of my fucking body and into their hands!"

"Alright… Now we talkin'!"

"I've more than done 'my job,' so while I still have the ball in my court, meaning their kids inside of me, I think it's time I tell the guys just what I think of them, and what I expect for sure in return!"

"We're on the same page, man," Quincy nodded. "Now it's time to get Chad and Steven readin' the same, damn book!"

"Can you be there when I talk with them later?" Kyle requested, sounding very much unlike his usual self, especially as of the last few minutes.

"Later?!" Quincy laughed. "We're gonna do this now!"

"I wish we could, but you need to take me to the courthouse now, whether or not either of us likes it."

"I can text Chad and tell him he and Steven need to meet us at my place, which is where we're goin' instead of…"

"I appreciate this Quincy," the doubly pregnant lawyer smiled and nodded. "Really, I do, but just take me to court," he sighed. "It'll be better and easier for the both of us in the end."

After letting out a (disappointed) sigh of his own, the driver complied. Part of Kyle wished he hadn't because now, he worried if he'd still have his nerve when the time came for his long overdue confrontation with Steven and Chad… The one where he'd belatedly law down the law, so to speak. Obviously, his bosses could be quite persuasive, so he'd have to be ready for them to likely tag-team him, just as they did their opponents in court.

Once he was sure #Quincy was heading in the right direction, Kyle stopped looking out the window and down at his belly again, addressing its two inhabitants for the second time so far that day.

"Sorry, guys, but I've gotta say, your daddies really kinda fuckin' suck…"
