This is a post to update you on where we are right now and to explain what’s coming in the next update. You don’t have to read this.
As I mentioned before, we had to rethink how to approach these two updates, which ended up mixing some things that were originally planned separately.
The next update, 0.08, has a planned release date, but we’re keeping it private until we finalize the core. (Though it’s expected to drop in April, and I’m still drawing a lot of stuff.) Here’s what’s coming:
16 new scenes spread across the remaining locations.
Most of these scenes will support the full set of outfits, while others will work with specific ones. (Testing the outfit filter.)
5 new outfits based on the results of the previous poll (not my fav tho >:( ), available in all compatible scenes.
New clothing system, which allows minor adjustments—like disabling accessories (e.g., glasses or the bunny ears in all scenes and outfits)—without affecting key elements. Not all features are ready yet, though.
Fetish Switch for the more controversial ones, using the “smoke” toggle as a test case. This will also introduce a questline system, planned for full implementation in 0.1.
Unlockable outfit system, initially using random values before we finalize how it’ll work. Each item will have a text hint on how to unlock it.
Bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
Scene-based dialogue implementation.
Possible deprecation: Outfit-specific dialogues might be scrapped (at least until the final development stages). There are just too many to make it worthwhile.
We're also improving the back-end code to handle data more centrally. This will create a stronger foundation, better performance, and fewer chances of bugs. But most importantly, it will speed up the implementation of new content (and there’s a lot coming!). The reason we’re adding so many scenes in this update is to stress-test the new system as much as possible. (I am also a gooner.)
The approach for these two updates prioritizes 0.1, which is the most important one since it introduces most of the core gameplay.
One last note: we're finally wrapping up this phase. It turned out to be more complex than expected... but for the right reasons.
No more posts this week, there is a lot to do yet.
