So... I'm guessing that something happened that took out both the mother and husband, leaving Sophia in charge of both of their companies, but not until after her mother screwed over Elle by making a complaint with her employer... which is where she was at the start of the story...

Doing that won't make your daughter less gay, lady. I wonder what that wretched witch will think now that her daughter has Elle working for her, and is scheming to get back with this gorgeous, Lesbian (not d*ke, how rude). It's too bad things turned out like that in the past, but Sophia knew she was tied up in a mess to get Elle involved. Now she has moved on and is in love with someone else. Too bad, so sad (not)... π
