Wow, it took me this long to realize this. Lash was just a lost soul in the first half of the season. He knew that he was the cure, but there was nothing to cure yet, he needed to wait for Hive to show up to fulfill his destiny. He was never really the bad guy, he was just trying to save the world by saving daisy, but he just arrived to soon.

It’s not a big deal if you miss it or watch it on your own time it’s less then thirty minutes. Don’t look it up until after you finish season 4 ep 8

The guy with The chain aka Hellfire, was the grandson of a Ghost Rider in the comics and Daisy's husband. They added him in here for the comic fans, and changed his story up a little to explain his abilities. No Ghost Rider stuff unfortunately. Would've been cool though. MCU is quite science based and AoS follows suit.
