You guys forgot again. Only the adults of the village and those around when the nine tail fox attacked know about the fox's spirit in Naruto . The hokage intentionally wanted to make sure none of the children knew about it so Naurto could fit in basically. It was mentioned in beginning of the series. Also in case of confused there is a English dubbing mistake, Naruto always failed the 'clone' justu in the exams. Not the 'shadow clone' justu those are two different techniques.

I thought I'd let you guys know that there is a dubbing error in this episode. In 16:16 he says "I flunked the shadow clone jutsu everytime." In the Japanese version he says "I flunked the CLONE jutsu everytime." Shadow clone jutsu is a forbidden jutsu that Naruto learned from a scroll in the first episode. At the moment, no other genin can make shadow clones.

Just to clarify something, Neji doesn't know about Naruto having the ninetails inside him because it's supposed to be something of a secret. The people who were around when the village was attacked know about it, but they're not supposed to openly talk about it so no one Naruto's age actually knows about it specifically. A lot of them may pick up on how Naruto is shunned and looked down on, but don't really know why. I'm pretty sure this was all said (or at least strongly implied) at some point in some of the earlier episodes and you'll find out more details later, but I hope that helps things make sense a little more.

In the Japanese dub Naruto has a verbal tic where he says “Dattebayo” or ends his sentences with “tebayo”. That’s where the “Believe it” phrase came from. It’s not a direct translation, it’s just a phrase the dubbers had to use to fill in mouth flaps in the English dub. I guess saying believe it in every other sentence got annoying so they dropped it.

Naruto is about learning about the world and law. Shippuden is much easier to watch and takes the story telling a few tiers above. Give it time. Some of the fights in Shippuden are better than a lot of anime now.

the reason neji didn't know about Naruto and the fox, is that right after it was beaten, they passed a law so no one can talk about it, so the younger generation has no idea. They went over that in like the first few episodes
