Hey Norms clarifying two things. 1) In Japan, the school year starts at the beginning of April (So that was Season 1) and the first semester ends around July (This episode). They come back in early September and go throughout the winter. 2) Shigaraki's motivation was always just to destroy what he didn't like, the attack on the USJ in season 1 was planned by All for One, and he was bummed when society recognized Stain over him, during this episode he realized he always did have a conviction in wanting to destroy the symbol that people put their hopes on (All Might) to show the world how pointless worshiping heroes is Also, Shigaraki's power doesn't turn on and off, it activates when he touches something with all five fingers (which is why his grip on Deku's neck was so weird)

There is a difference between doing something just because and doing something because you have resolved to do it. He was always going to kill All Might but he didn't have a reason. Now he has a reason and a goal. He is no longer trying to kill him just to kill him.

I believe the author meant that they are two different meanings when Shigaraki said 'I want to kill All Might' in the 1st season and 'I want to kill All Might' in the second season. Even though they seem pretty similar. The later is supposed to be more meaningful like Stain's ideals

Definetly stick with Dub imo; its one of the better ones and there are moments where something was clearer to me in the dub than sub. Also, the dub for season 4 will come out a couple of weeks after the sub version which means you'll be able to go straight into it from finishing season 3

Generally Funimation Simulcasts the first few weeks of my hero then the dub is like 2 weeks behind. So by the time you guys finish season 3, season 4 dubs will be coming out every week and you can keep going dub without interruption

I would have no problem if you waited for the dub, with My Hero Aca it's out pretty soon after the sub.

If you guys are deciding to switch over to sub, then you should watch season 3 in sub so you can familiarize the voices with characters (it will be less confusing)

Based on your current schedule, you'll only be half way through season 3 when season 4 airs, so if you wanna stick with dub, you should be fine. Dubs are usually simulcast but can sometimes the schedule gets changed and they end up being a couple weeks behind.

the difference is that before, Shigaraki's reasonings for attacking All Might were just posturing. All Might himself called this out during the attack on UA. Shiggy had no ideals behind his actions and wanted to slaughter heroes just because. he also lacked conviction, as shown by him easily giving up on both of his plans so far (which Deku also called out this episode). whereas now, he has a reason to kill All Might that he actually BELIEVES in. he's directly made a correlation between the defeat of the symbol of power and the degradation of society's peace and trust in heroes

Shigaraki needs all 5 fingers to touch the object for it to disintegrate, thats why he kept the one finger off Deku's neck.

You guys looked a little bit confused with the Shigaraki thing. Yeah Shigaraki’s goal has always been to kill All Might, but before it was nothing but a childish wish to him and in this episode he finds out it’s something more than that. Yes his goal never changed, but the way he perceives it has.

The sub and dub are both great for this show. Since you are already on dubs you may as well stick with it, season 4 should drop dub and sub at the same time. Season 4 drops in 3 months, it wont take you too long to catch up, maybe a couple of double drops here and there, I would recommend double dropping the 3 x01 and x02 though, it's literally an episode made to catch you up on the series so far which you don't need.

Skip 3x1 or double drop with 3x2. 3x1 is literal filler recap episode, it contains nothing reaction worthy nor does it progress the plot, just skip it.

Season 4 is getting a simuldub which means the dubbed episodes come out at the same time as the subbed episodes. If it's anything like season 3, the first 12 episodes will have both the dubbed and subbed episodes available on the same day. After 12 or so episodes, the dubbed episodes will be delayed a week from the subbed episodes.

Personally I prefer the subs since the VA fucking kill it and add tons of little nuances to the dialogue that really land the tone or humour. But it doesn't matter to me if you watch it in subs or dub. The dub for this is pretty good.

Its not desperation to make a threat, he genuinely didn't understand why everyone kept flocking to Stain's image and not to the league and why people kept underestimating him. He didn't know the difference, so he went to Deku who had met stain and him both to ask the difference.

This is honestly my favorite episode with Shigaraki in the entire series so far, I love how much he’s progressed as a villain. If you look back at the guy we saw in the first season he doesn’t look like he would have hesitated to attack people in a large crowd but here he’s calm, not throwing a tantrum, using tactics and the fact that Deku wants to be a hero to his own advantage

The subs, and dubs of My Hero drop almost simultaneously. With maybe at the most a 3 episode diffrence between the two, with the sub being ahead. As season 3 of My Hero was airing in Japan, i remember watching season 3 completely in English. You'll be straight guys.

The My Hero Dub is great, no need to switch it now. Especially since they’re 2 seasons into the show already and have connected with the current voice actors. Also Christopher Sabat isn’t in the sub. I’ve watched the sub before and I didn’t connect with the characters like I do when I’m watching them in my own language.

He more so wanted to to kill All Might just cause he hates him. But now he has more of a purpose to it. It's like working out just to be stronger, which is a fine motivator in itself, but if there's a bigger reason behind it, something that means more, that can push you farther than just because you want to.

I think they are just too used to superhero cartoons and typical shonen where power levels are bullshit, there are no consequences, and the world building is non-existent / established rules are broken all the time. Horikoshi (the creator) puts a lot of depth and careful thought into how the MHA world operates. He is a huge fan of Western superheros and Eastern shonen and was able to incorporate all the things that made them great into MHA, while also avoiding all the things that make those genres bad. They are just too used to simple characters with simple motivations, so whenever they come across any character with depth (Todoroki, Stain, Shigaraki), they miss the mark.

I think you all kind of missed the idea of Shigiraki in this episode. It is true that his goal has always been to kill All Might. The difference before it was just a selfish desire to kill and be evil for no reason. He even said so in 1x12 when All Might called him out and he said All Might had him figured out. The difference now is that he knows why. He wants to get rid of All Might not just for hate but to prove how society is so weak. He even talked about in this episode when he was saying anyone of the people in the mall could kill countless people. The only thing that makes the world feel safe is people knowing All Might is somewhere out there. You take him away and the whole world become chaos. Essentially he always knew what he wanted to do (Kill All Might) He just never gave a second thought as to why. It seems simple on the surface but it's much deeper then reactors seem to understand. This is obviously no offence to any of you guys. Many reactors felt the same way. Love your reactions. Keep it up. Hyped for season 3.

They usually drop the dub two weeks after the sun episode comes out. Season 3 was caught up with the dub as it released and then they moved it back to be 2 weeks behind the Japanese release so you could just wait a week or two to watch the dub once season 4 starts

Yes shigaraki always wanted to kill all might. But i think originally that was more or less just something he wanted to do and not his Ideology, his set and determined goal. This may appear kinda stupid but i think it ties in nicely with Shigaraki essentially going from a temper tantrum throwing child to a fully grown proper villain

When they talk about Shigaraki finding his conviction, it's more about him thinking about what it is he's doing on a deeper level. Like Shigaraki said, he had that conviction from the beginning, but he was thinking of it on a much more simple level, pretty much just that All Might pissed him off. Now he's thinking of it in terms of the larger society and All Might's effect on it, and though it's pretty much the same as what he had been doing it before, one way of thinking is much more useful for gathering supporters than the other.
